Pizza Marsala — Restaurant in Monroeville

What a great and highly underrated spot! The employees there are very friendly, contrary to some of the reviews on Google and Yelp. Today, I got the cheese calzone, fried dough, and cannolis. They were all delicious.

Their calzones are only around $10 for a plain cheese. And, the portion is quite big too. It's not too doughy and their dough is flavorful and delicious. It looks like they top their calzones with a good bit of butter. It may look a bit soggy on the bottom, but the flavor is still excellent. Their sauce is lightly sweet and goes perfectly with the cheese. It's packed well and is the perfect amount of cheese for a calzone. Would have liked a bit more ricotta specifically and maybe a side dipping sauce, but still amazing!

The desserts are pretty good too. Some of them are (as expected) not made in house, but others like the cinnamon rolls and fried dough are. When I ordered, I initially switched one of my desserts for the other. But, they just gave me the other dessert for free! Very considerate.

The cannolis, although partially premade, were still quite tasty. Good amount of filling, great texture, adequate amount of chocolate chips inside, crispy outside, and nice chocolate cover. Their fried dough is also tasty and similar to a funnel cake. Would have maybe liked a sweet sauce (like caramel or chocolate) with the fried dough, but I had some leftover caramel to use so no issues there.

All in all, a very good stop for pizza in Monroeville. It seems extremely underrated, and I was the only person to be in the store at the time (and my order was the only one for pick up at that time, which was Labor Day weekend). This place needs some more pizza and calzone...

So grateful for the owner. He reached to to me to see what my issue was and listened to me concern. Treated me with respect and kindness and understanding. He was able to assist me with everything not even 12 hours later. He called first thing in the morning and assisted me. Below is what happened.

Ordered a pizza, even was specific in order. Got delivery time. Waited and it was on time . Got order it was wrong, I didnt get upset. I called to see how I could be assisted. I was told the system glitches and he thought my order details were a glitch. I was told not to eat the pizza. Fine. As we didn't want the incorrect order anyway. Legit couldn't consume it. Waited 30 minutes with hungry toddlers. Got a call from an angry delivery person about how she was sent here and needed address again. Even was speeding down the street and almost rammed my neighbors parked car. I stood outside with toddlers at my ankles for a pizza that was not the size I ordered. I asked her to hand me the original pizza and stacked them and took a photo of them. I called the restaurant. Explained the issue again. Even stated pizza was way thinner than the first. I was told this was impossible. I argued that I have photos. I was told I could get $5 off next order. I informed that I would not be ordering again and expected a refund as I waited 2 hours for terrible service. He told me he could not assist. If u want pizza order elsewhere. They suck! It's Tuesday and they can't get my order right. Must be the beer they sell they...

So I have NEVER given a bad review ever, until today.. I was working in MONROEVILLE, and decided to order a pizza. I’m not from the area , so I searched online & found Pizza Marsala. Thought why not.. well let me tell you WHY NOT... I ordered online at 12:39.. I received my pizza at 2:21. I called (2xs) & spoke to the same girl who didn’t seem to care at all.. The 1st phone call was an hour after my order, I just wanted to make sure there wasn’t a problem, she said oh we got really busy, he’s on his way. Oh ok, I get it.. it happens right?? So the pizza place according to google is 4 mins away from work.. after 1.5 hours I’m like forget it I don’t even want it, so I call back & tell her it’s like 1.5 hours I just wanna cancel. Please just refund my card, & she (the same girl) tells me it only been 1 hour & 16 mins. Oh ok I’m like well that’s a long time for delivery, just cancel it. She says oh hold on, & I hear her talking to the driver about the pizza needs delivered STAT. She comes back on & says he’ll be there he’s right down the street. So I ask is the pizza gonna be cold like 1.5 hours is long to wait. She said no it’s in a hot bag or whatever you call it. So he finally shows up, & I said to the delivery driver 2 hours is really long time to wait, he said I was busy. Ok it’s here let’s just eat it. Yea so it’s not hot, it’s not even warm, & I paid 27 bucks for cold flavorless pizza, totally not worth the wait! Do yourself a favor, don’t waste your...
