I ordered 6 items from online to be shipped to local store within 1-2 days. Then I pick it up from Montclair store free of charge and there was to be no shipping charges on my order regardless do to a promo free shipping over 100.00 purchases. So u chosen to have it delivered to store so I didn't have to worry about packages being stolen while not home when they were delivered. Well it was 3,days so I called to verify if order was ready to pick up.. I called on 11/30/18 @8pm to check store operator transfers me to big appliances dept. The woman said " I can help you " she asked for Order # pulled it right up and said all order is here but 1 item that shows delivered tonight here. So if u come tomorrow after 12 the whole order will be here . Fine.. So I go to Penney's, parking was a bear , but it is xmas. So I went in not to see one sign that showed catalog dept. No sale assc. On the floor to assist you. ,None. One cashier's 2 in each area with lines of 20 customers waiting . I went to major appliances dept since they helped me last night. One salesperson in the dept. 2people ahead of us. I thought this is ridiculous. So I seen a salesperson across the way at housewares dept. She said in u have to go around the corner past bedding and behind women's lingerie that will be a cash register sitting in the back that is catalog pickup. I thought to myself of course behind the lingerie what was I thinking. What is the logic there have no clue no signs nothing so I walk up into the apartment I see a register 311 and each of them assisting a customer. I think I'm going to Mosey on up there good no line I turn around 20 people in line behind me giving me the stink-eye oh man gamma back in line I go another 20 minutes get up to the counter just to find out my orders not in nothing. I told her that's wrong I spoke to somebody last night she said it was all in except bed mat that I ordered that was coming in last night to come in today do you know who spoke to I said well they gave me two Appliance Department I don't know who but was super friendly I'm very sure of herself so I put my confidence in your store as always in the past and can't ask her name. Shame on my part. Regardless the order wasn't there LED light so now leaving the store getting out of parking lot back home I wasted an hour and a half of my day for nothing for convenience I think not. Only if I find out from the girls asking me that it won't be there till December 5th hello five more days that I would have just had it sent to my house this is supposed to be less time must hassle pick up in one thing no stress the trumpy nightmare so call before you go in there get the person's name don't waste your day especially Christmas time people shopping and a mall under construction on top of that parking is a drag. I wasn't pleased to say at least I think I'll have my packages shipped next time and take the risk than waste an hour and a half of my time...
Read moreI don't write reviews often but after this current experience a review is a must. Black Friday sale was crazy with amazing deals. The store was packed. The store was suprisingly organized as opposed to others on this sale day. My mom is a disabled person and it's harder for her to get around. She had her own list of items for deals. A employee name Emily welcomed us after passing 3-4 others who never acknowledged us. My mom showed Emily the list and she immediately began to assist. She was able to grab all 6 items for my mom. She explained the value of the discount and how we would gain a bigger savings by applying for a store credit card which helped with purchasing a couple other items that made perfect gifts for additional people. I hate pushy sales people but she was nothing like that. Moms list of 6 ended up at 13 and my list of 5 ended up being 16. There was no need for us to go out to the stores we had planned on. She actually treated us like she was our personal shopper and made the shopping experience perfect. My mom mentioned to the cashier who assisted us that we wanted the manager to know how great Emily was and she advised us to apply for the store card. The cashier told us we should write a review and management would see it. Unfortunately she said last names were not able to be given out and she was not aware of how many emplyess named Emily work for Jc Penny in Montclair. So the best description I can give is she is about 20ish, a thin hispanic who also speaks Spanish (my mom appreciated that). She asked one of the employees, she said she had wait for the other girl, she was just fidgeting with products and she told my mom she was going to help this other lady because she was just picking something up and my mom can wait for the other girl. Weird right? Why couldn't she just help my mom. My Mom mom just wanted to know the price. There was like nobody there! Finally another person helped my mom.
I remember too, a nice girl helped me, and signed me up for JC Penny savings card or something like that and helped with a coupon, very nice girl! I wished the other employees could follow her lead. I wish I knew her name! I even looked for her when came back and she was gone. Really loved your service! I'm going look at my receipt and let you boss know what a great job your doing! Excellent customer service!
Later hours later I came back and wanted to purchase some jewelry. I was waiting to pay at the jewelry section. I seen a women helping this guy and I waited. Then ended up telling me someone in front of me, I can pay in one the other registers up front. I didn't want to go to far registers. I wanted to pay there. It's jewelry right? She seemed want help other later because she wanted to look at something, I understand but don't act like that, I'm a customer too. I realized she was there before. And they are not even busy!
