Pick Rite Thriftway — Local services in Montesano

It's a decent store I like it well enough, usually has what I'm looking for whether it be food or most other household items. And the staff couldn't be more friendly. But the prices are atrocious, sky high. What would cost you $60ish at Walmart cost me almost $140 at thriftyway. So it turns out not being so thrifty. They think it's ok to be priced like this because they are the only such store to get anything unless you want to go to either Aberdeen or Elma. Elma is also a small over-priced town so really Aberdeen is the only other option. That's about 30+ min away. I live in Oregon and I occasionally visit montesano when visiting my Sister. Thriftway is a nice friendly clean well stocked store and I appreciate the fact that it's in close proximity to where my sister lives. I've read concerns about the prices and I understand however if you want the same friendly clean well stocked store that you have in montesano the higher prices are necessary. If the prices were dropped it would affect employee lay offs, cleanliness, and the friendly atmosphere that the residents of montesano love. The store is always clean and nicely stocked but the organic selection is almost non existent and the healthy choices seem to be lacking. My last visit there was a gross older lady in a wheelchair grazing the fruit shamelessly. She would stuff her fat hand in the grapes and pull out a few and eat them....and anything else she could get to. We mentioned it to an employee but they did nothing. I'm disgusted that she can been seen eating like she is at a buffet but nobody will tell her to keep her dirty hands off the food. Basically, its stealing and they wouldn't say anything to her.
