I ordered the chicken donburi. What I received was NOT donburi. I'm extremely disappointed in what I received. It looks like I ordered chicken teriyaki, stir fried vegetables, and rice. Called the gentleman who was at the register when I picked up my food, and told him that I was surprised that my donburi looked the way it did. He then asked if it had rice, stir fried vegetables and teriyaki chicken, I said "yes, but isn't that just chicken teriyaki, vegetables, and rice?" He then told me that that was the way they cooked it and at least I know for next time I ordered. He did not show any concern in trying to offer some comfort by understanding my frustration with what I received, which was disappointing, but it is what it is. I thanked him for at least confirming that I received the right dish, and hung up the phone.
I'll probably give them a second chance, being that this was my first time there, so I'll more than likely try a generalized food next time. I do live in an area where asian cuisine is hard to come by, so this will have to do in a pinch. I am definitely hesitant in ordering something more specialized from their menu.
My meal costed around $15 dollars, and I also tipped 15%. $17 or so...Just wanted to let the donburi lovers out there know that this is not a place to order ANY donburi, unless you wish to eat stir fried chicken teriyaki. Only recommending standard asian foods from this...
Read moreI order takeout from here nearly every time I come back to my hometown and it had been a few years. It appears that it may be under new management. The service was fine except I tried to order something from the online menu and the person seemed to think it was an old menu and offered to make a substitution, but didn't mention the price difference. No big deal. Portion size was somewhat small for the price though. My biggest disappointment was that they messed with the recipe for the general tso's and ruined basically my favorite thing to eat there adding corn and green beans or snow peas and way too much black pepper - which has no business being added to a general tso's dish unless it's added by the customer at their table. Also the chicken was either under fried and soggy - likely added too much at once and cooled the oil or it was sitting in the...
Read moreLook, This place is good. But you have to know how to order. DON'T order the Chinese food. Order teriyaki and Japanese food. The katsu lunch special is good (I personally like a lighter breading) but it came out hot and crisp with a light little salad and some gyoza. What's not yo like? Oishi isn't fancy and I personally believe they should scale back their menu to just be teriyaki classics; but all in all, this place delivers well cooked food if you dont get tripped up by ordering well.
What I mean by that is, if you come here looking for sticky sweet Chinese food...you'll find it but it won't be great, but if you stick to teriyaki staples like the teriyaki and katsu you'll ...
