I recently had troubles with my gaming rig, I couldn't figure out why it was over heating. I did everything I could think of to fix it, full clean ( fans, case, everything was clean and mostly dust free) I tried to reset my heatsink multiple times, posted in the forums and no body could give me an answer that worked. So in my desperation I looked at computer shops around me and found that this one was close, professional and had very good reviews. They do "free diagnostics", so I took it to them and explained what was going on, they looked at it and told me they would get back within 2 days. They did so and told me that the bracket that holds my heatsink on was bent and that I needed a new heatsink and bracket, I was thankful and asked if they had any and how much it would be. The guy told me he didn't have my exact factory one but had one that would fit from the factory of another AMD processor. He said it would be 70$. Well that's a rip off and that's what I told him I could the highest rated and best reviewed heatsink that isn't a small tiny factory one for 29.99 off of Newegg. So I told him no thank you and I will pick it up within a week. I got it backs couple of days ago and saw some thermal paste finger prints on my case, it kind of pissed me off a little bit but I gave them the benefit of the doubt because that found my problem. So a couple days have went past and today I got my new heatsink in the mail I open my case and take off my old heatsink to see that there is thermal paste all over my old fan, and heatsink and that they used so much the paste was squished in the fins of my heatsink and it's so thick and goopy all over my cpu, there is literally 4 beads of paste just hanging off of my cpu. This aggravates me so much, not because it's messy I can always clean that up, and I'm not gonna use this heatsink again. It aggravates me because they claim "free diagnostics" but then charged me 15$ because and they quote " Had to use some thermal paste, and there time". What did you think doing a diagnostic would be a 30 second job? And no wonder they had to charge me they used a whole god damn tube of paste. So if you want to get scammed for factory parts where you can get after market parts for a fraction of the price, and bring in a clean and dusted computer and get it back with smudges, finger prints, and excessive paste everywhere. Read moreI've been using The Computer Guys services for a little over two years now. I came over from an impersonal computer and IT services provider and I've not regretted it since. Both John and Tim are very kind and emphasize building business relationships by doing a good job for their customers and providing quality customer service and fair prices.
As an accountant I depend on my computer immensely. I cannot emphasize how important it is to have a reliable and customer service oriented IT support staff available when you need them and John and Tim epitomize both qualities and have on countless occasions bailed me out of time sensitive computer jams. They work hard to get you back on your feet so that you can go about your business and your life.
After being a client of theirs' for over two years I can't recommend them enough...they know their jobs, are experts at IT/computers, are kind, won't defraud you, trust worthy, customer service oriented, take ownership of the issue until there is a resolution to your computer problems, and look forward to building lasting business relationships with their clients.
I recommend the TCGs and will be using their services for...
Read moreMy computer would not turn on and I first took it to Geek Squad. They said I would need a new motherboard, etc. which I thought was crazy and I am a college student so I could not afford those prices. I got a recommendation from the geek squad to go and see the computer guys and I was not disappointed. The computer guys are friendly, knowledgeable and the price was cheaper than what the geek squad would have charged so I didn't really complain. I have to bring my computer back soon for a potentially big repair and they will be the first place I go to while I'm...
