Hobby Lobby — Local services in Moore

Sometimes when you have bad experiences in a store you’re able to take a step back & see the situation from the other perspective. I’ve tried so hard to do this with my negative experience in this store & I simply cannot justify how I was treated.

I’ve always loved Hobby Lobby… I mean I’m a seamstress, but I also just love to craft & create in general. Furthermore, this has always been where I buy my home decor. So it is a kinda happy place for me. Sometimes I go there buy specific things, others just to have fun looking the crafting possibilities & home decor, but occasionally I go there to escape my negativity.

The last time I was at this store. It was to escape. I had just found out my mother had cancer & I had just brain surgery to remove a tumor that was unsuccessful.

So I was there to distract my mind, but also had the intention of buying a lot of seasonal stuff to make this year special for my family in case it was the last we all had together. I had been at the store for maybe one hour & 30 minutes when a male & female employee confronted me.

The man aggressively questioned me about what I was doing there & wanted to know exactly what I planned on buying. As I explained to him my situation & while I was there to buy stuff I was also to distract my mind & kill some time. The entire time I was talking the female employee with him giggled.

He then told me I had picked up a few items & I hadn’t placed items back in there proper location, but was even more concerned about how long I had been in the store. He said I had been there for much too long. I asked him if he thought I was stealing & I told him he was more than welcome to search me. He said he did not think that but, I needed to provide a better explanation for why I was in the store for so long.

After he said that to me I told him I worked retail for over 5 years & I would have never been allowed to a treat a customer the way he was treating me. In fact I would have been in trouble with my managers for treating a customer the way he was treating me. I asked to speak to a manager & she laughed at me too.

So I asked again do you guys think I’m stealing b/ if so please search me. She laughed & said that was unnecessary. Then I asked if they had a time limit for how long someone could be in the store & all 3 employees just kept laughing at me.

So I told them I would be leaving & not coming back. I mean I could literally hear them laughing at me as I left the store in tears. I couldn’t understand what I had done wrong & I was also couldn’t help but feel like the laughter was due to how the scars of my brain surgery left me looking. The 8 inch incision on my head, all the bone damage the left side of my face has, the bald spot from the hair they had to shave head, the droopiness in my eye from it being placed back correctly after having it removed from my skull to reach a tumor that couldn’t be even removed. It’s hard not to feel insecure about the way you look when that’s all you see when you look in the mirror… then having multiple people laugh at you for reasons you cannot understand b/ they refuse to explain themIt leaves you feeling like it must be b/ of how disfigured I look & they don’t want me here b/ of my appearance.

It is so funny that this “Christian” company who proudly & publicly embraces those values sees nothing wrong with their managers & employees laughing at a girl with a brain tumor who’s mother is dying from cancer when all she was trying to do was make the holidays special for her family & distract herself from of the negativity happening in her life for just a little awhile..

I cannot help but, wonder what Jesus would think about...

I love hobby lobby and am so glad they are around, they have alot of art supplies and home rocket kits that I live for and are the only place I know that carries them. With that said the moore location has the absolute worst mangers I've ever encountered one of them always dressed in black (at best probably a reflection of her soul at worst is the ring leader of some satanic cult) is a raving bit*c the most unpleasant person I've ever had the displeasure to speak to. She is rude, will not resolve simple problems and will actually use "store policy " as a reason to not help. First my key was locked in my car but thankfully I had my daughter's phone but it has no service. I asked if I could use the phone and the creature from the black lagoon came out of the shadows to take the phone that a cashier was letting me use away. Saying that it was against store policy I asked her if I could atleast have the wifi password to use my daughter's phone and she told me she didn't know it that corporate controlled it and changed it daily. Then Once the day before my grandmother's funeral we had stopped by to find a nice picture frame My 5 year old daughter asked if she could buy a toy dinosaur with money she had earned helping mom around the house. We had a long drive ahead so I figured it to be a good way to keep her occupied. After check out we walked to the car when we realized it was not in the bag. My wife went back in the store and they claimed not to be able to find it. My daughter started crying so I went to talk to the manager but it had turned 9 and the store closed a woman came to the door and asked how she could help I asked to talk to the manager I could see her peeking around the corner and when the woman who came to the door went to ask the manager laid into her and then refused to come to the door.. So I called into the store and after 15 mins on hold she picked up I asked that since they could not find the toy if I could just buy a new one, explaining the situation. This pos actually accused me or my daughter of lying. For what reason? A 5 dollar freaking toy??? I asked please if she could atheist look again and she said it was against store policy. Funny I thought store policy included a policy of customer service and atleast bagging what you purchase. On Christmas eve I had a last minute need of paint and went into the hobby lobby the same manager who didn't even recognize me was standing by the paint and In the spirit of the season I decided to be nice and asked her if she was ready to go. She said "no but you need to!" I was shocked not so much as by her demeanor (already know she's mean)but by the stench that was radiating from her.I promise you she smelled like the Oklahoma City Zoo pachyderm building on a hot day. She then threatened me with having a cop she claimed was in the building run me down with his car. Safe to say I'll never go back and would advise no...

I went in to get silk flowers for my grandmother's crypt. When I asked where something was, the manager standing there talking and playing on her phone just pointed and said "back there." I was not from Oklahoma and was not familiar with their store at all. When I came back, I asked the young man behind the register, If they carried something to cut the wire stems off the silk flowers. He replied "We don't do that." I rephrased the question " I need wire cutters to cut these wire stems?" The manager still standing there.. said "yes" ( acting like I was inconveniencing her) they're over there at the end-cap" pointing again.. and still messing around with her phone. Now there were five to six aisles in the direction she was pointing. I went back over and checked every end cap of the aisle in the direction she was pointing. Come to find out they were not on an in-cap They were towards the end of the aisle. We have a hobby lobby not far from our home and we frequent there. They have always greeted us with a smile, they are very helpful, walked with us to help us find items. Obviously the Moore, Oklahoma HL has enough business that can treat the customers so badly they don't care if they...
