Great food. Got the spicy guacamole burger, and my partner got a bacon guac burger. My partner got the regular fries, and I got the sweet potato fries. We shared a sweet tea.
My burger was well made and well put together. I was not disappointed.
Fries were well cooked. Sweet potato fries are insanely hard to get right, and somehow, this place got them perfect. They were cooked on the inside and had a slight crisp on the outside. Very nice.
The sweet tea was also amazing as well. It wasn't anything epic to write home about, but anyone who gets sweet tea on a regular basis knows that some of the corporate or semi corporate places that provide sweet tea as a beverage ends up actually being just unsweetened tea with about 30 lb of sugar dumped in it.
I don't know if The Garage is one of those places. I only know that my experience was excellent regarding the tea. It was slightly sweetened, where you knew you were not drinking unsweetened tea, and yet, it was also not super sweet to where your tongue starts to shrivel up halfway through the first glass.
The venue and environment were good. The tables were cleaned when we sat down. We were checked on over a period of about 2 hours approximately 10-12 times. We were asked several times if we wanted refills or if we needed anything else. ((There have been really nice and fancy restaurants who have assigned waiters to specifically care for certain tables that do not check on us as many times as The Garage staff checked on us. It was pretty incredible.))
In today's world, tip culture has reached ridiculously sad levels. We all see it all the time, when the tablet is flipped around by someone just manning a register, and we are asked whether we want to tip the guy who just pressed four buttons on the register lol. I know that I see it all the time when I go through the Strbcks drive-thru, and I am incessantly asked whether I want to tip someone who just poured a coffee into a cup lol. You even frequently see posts from waitresses who complain about their low wages from their low/no-skill job and are trying to compensate for the lack of value that their labor has (since they have no education or tradeskill) by mistakenly believing the tips they receive should make up the difference lol. Many of them even act entitled to a tip of at least a certain amount. I mentioned all that to say this -- I find it unbelievably fantastic that The Garage did not have assigned staff to wait on specific tables, but they still provided better service than most restaurants do, and better service than most of these waitresses you see on social media complaining they are making 30 bucks an hour putting coffee in a cup lol. If every waitress could provide the service that The Garage just happened to provide that evening to us, those entitled waitresses wouldn't ever need to post any comments about not getting the tip they think they are entitled to, as their labor would be worth far more based on their results.
Good job, The...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVERY disappointing experience. Went in for the first (& last) time around 830p on 8/18/25. There was one occupied table with two diners. No other customers in the building.
After placing my order, I waited while the kitchen staff stood around and watched (I presume) videos on a worker's phone. This went on for about 10 minutes. All three of them, just standing there chuckling & watching videos instead of prepping, cooking, or even cleaning/tidying.
When I went back to the register around 8:50pm to request a refund, I was met with utter disdain from the young girl behind the counter. While waiting on the manager, a young male behind the counter continuously shrugged his shoulders & toss his hands up as if to say "what am I supposed to do" - all while telling me, "You're not wrong."
When the "manager" was called over, she arrived to the register with an obviously defensive demeanor & said, "What's going on?" (Not, a customary "How can I help you?", "What seems to be the trouble?", not even a smile or anything else remotely resembling positive customer service training.)
When I told her that I simply wanted a refund as it was clear my food was not being made, she immediately began snapping at me, telling me why I was mad.
Hold up! First of all, I'm not (nor was I at the time) mad. The appropriate descriptive would've been disappointed, disheartened, shocked, in disbelief, flabbergasted even. She then proceeded to tell me that my food couldn't be cooked in five minutes. When I attempted to speak rationally with her & point out that regardless of how long it takes to cook two burger patties, it's simply NOT A GOOD LOOOK for your kitchen staff to be STANDING AROUND PLAYING ON THEIR PHONE when customers can SEE them. It gives the impression of the customer being unimportant. Ms. Manager was not trying to hear anything I had to say. She was entirely too busy being dismissive & unreasonably defensive.
For the record, I was not yelling. I was not loud. I was not rude or mean or in any way displaying signs of being a "Karen" in the slightest.
I was simply stating facts. Ms. Manager did not like that.
Her demeanor was very unprofessional & dismissive. I would be ashamed of my employees if they chose to interact with my paying customers in such a manner.
My family wanted to try something different but we quickly realized this is most definitely NOT the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo let me first say title of this review should be I could TELL the French fries were fried with fish.... That being said you will see a recurring theme in this review. That is to enforce how FISHY things can get. Excited to use my Hal Smith Gift card I got.... We headed to The Garage - Moore It was a busy Sunday. My family and I waited patiently in line to order...line this long must be good food right !? (From previous experience different locations - YES)
Ordered queso out first and it was out lightning fast....so fast we were standing waiting for a table to be cleaned so we could sit actually. The queso was hot and tasty (+1 star)
I ordered the kitchen sink with chicken and it was very tender and tasty! (+1 star)
I had the flag on our table tent up (as told to do so by front cashier if I wanted a beer) however the bar staff couldn't see the flag device so no one noticed until to the end of the meal. No big deal. (-1 star)
The fries. Had a after taste of not potato...not salt...but greasy fish. I understand that fryer space and fresh oil is at premium...I just wasn't excited about fish flavored fries. So 1.99 spent = 1.99 wasted. We didn't eat them. I spoke with a manager about the situation and sure enough he confirmed that fries and fish fried in same oil /same fryer. He tasted one and said he didn't taste fish. ā (- 2 stars) mostly because I was super excited to have the fries pair with the awesome new sandwich.
Overall..2 stars for this visit. I am thinking we will stick with the other locations (Downtown, 240, Norman) as we have had super awesome experience at those Garage locations..
