Got my hair done with Katie, very sweet girl, very attentive. However, the service i received was quite disappointing. I asked for a very layered haircut, I already have long layers but I was looking for more and shorter layers around the face but it feels like the same haircut I already had. Once she finished cutting, it was pretty obvious that one side didnāt feel or look as layered as the other one. I pointed this out to her and thatās when she noticed and cut a little more on that side. It feels like I shouldnāt be the one to notice that.
Also the color doesnāt feel like it was done at a salon, it almost looks like box dye. I arrived with a blonde balayage on dark brown hair. We discussed the color and the goal and agreed on a medium brown all over, since I wasnāt ready to go too dark. The result? My roots are medium brown and my ends are almost black, it looks very uneven. Iām hoping it will fade and even out but as of right now, itās not what i wanted.
Also the styling is really lacking. I requested a blowout. I get blowouts often and I know how they should feel and look and this is not it. I also know the technique most stylist use and how the round brush is used. This was not it at all. I left the salon with half dried hair that felt frizzy and just looked awful. This was particularly sad for me because when you go to the salon, you expect to walk out feeling great about your hair and all i could do was touch it and cringe. Also I want to add that I paid $40 for a hair treatment so I was really expecting my hair to feel great. I eventually got home and redid the blowout and it felt a lot better, which just makes everything worse because it literally took me ten minutes and a dyson. I felt so dumb for paying almost $300 on a service I had to end up fixing at home.
Also I got bangs cut and she didnāt even style them. My whole drive home I was freaking out because i had no idea if my bangs were horrible or not. Took me five minutes to style them at home. I really wish she hadnāt neglected to style them.
Iām sure the salon is good, maybe this stylist is just new. Also I see that yall reply to bad reviews and try to defend yourselves, which is understandable. Please know I leave this review as constructive criticism only and to give potential clients some more info before choosing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI originally went in as a blonde, wanting to transition to a light natural brunette or dirty blonde. At my initial appointment, my roots ended up almost black, while the rest of my hair was a lighter brown with random blonde chunks throughoutānothing like what I had asked for. The stylist acknowledged the mistake and offered to fix it a few days later, which I appreciated at the time. When I returned, she started off nice and apologetic, using a color remover that seemed promising. But after applying a lighter brown and blow-drying my hair, it was just as bad as beforeāmy hair was still a mess. Instead of handling the situation professionally, she got frustrated and started aggressively tugging at my hair, and became very rude. She then applied more color, and when I asked if my roots would end up too dark again, she bluntly told me she had to do it because my blonde was so porous and obviously could not take colorāconveniently forgetting that she was the one who did my blonde in the first place! At this point, I was literally holding back tears. The owner got involved, but instead of fixing it, they asked if I could just āacceptā the color. When I pointed out that they should have warned me if my porous hair would be an issue. Instead I was told it would be easy to go light brown because my hair was already so light. Then the owner got defensive and basically told me I could leave if I had an āattitudeā for simply stating that I was very unhappy with the results. While I was treated very disrespectfully for half of my appointment me voicing my frustration is āattitudeā. Most people would be upset after spending over $300. I walked out with color still in my hair, completely devastated. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic respect was shocking
Also it is important to note that according to the West Virginia Board of Barbers and Cosmetologist āNo pets such as cats, dogs, birds, etc. shall be kept in or allowed in shops or at entrances to shops.ā This is something this salon does not follow. I mean they post themselves breaking this rule/regulation all over...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLydia was truly amazing! As a biracial black girl with curly textured hair, I have so much hair trauma from stylists not listening, cutting more off than I asked for, not being able to achieve the color or style I want, and the list goes on. I have left the salon crying so many times in my life but this time I left literally crying happy tears because Lydia was able to understand my vision and achieve the hair color I have been dreaming of for years!! Especially in this city, it is extremely difficult to find a hair girl to trust with my hair type, but Lydia was so receptive to my needs and anxieties. Iām sure she had to have been annoyed by my questioning and micromanaging lol but instead she was so receptive and caring. She made me feel comfortable and safe and I canāt even say how much I appreciate her for this. And side note this was even after I had dyed my own hair at home so essentially a color correction on top of giving me my dream hair lol. My expectations were to hopefully at minimum not look messed up, but I ended up with sooo much more than that. Itās giving expensive black girl lived in blonde š Thank you Lydia for making me look like a...
