Since Hubs & I were traveling through the Morgantown area, we decided to meet up with some friends for an early supper. We went to Ruby Tuesdays on a Friday afternoon about 3:30-4p & the place was NOT busy or crowded. That's normally a good sign... right? WRONG! Our party of 4 stood (at least 3-4 minutes) in the entrance area @ the reception stand waiting to be acknowledged (at all!) by even 1 of the 3 staff members there. They were WAY too busy discussing who was working that day & in what area of the restaurant, why another staff member had called in to be off yet again, & just how often she called off, etc etc. We finally had to interrupt their conversation to ask if they were even open yet & if so, could we possibly be seated now... or perhaps we should just go elsewhere to eat. One woman quickly walked away, one looked offended we were "ease dropping," & the 3rd picked up menus & started walking off without a word until she realized we weren't following her so she finally said "Come on..." Not a very welcoming start at all.
We got seated in a booth with the typical saggy, broken down, low seat cushions & a table top that was about arm pit high. You all know the kind, I'm sure. We 4 average sized people sat there in that booth space better meant for 2 & could barely raise our elbows to lift our forks or glasses. The 2 guys finally ended up sitting balanced on the edge of the booth bench with half their bodies out in the aisle. Awkward, to say the least & definitely not comfortable.
The food arrived & the salmon was way, way too overdone & DRY & the veggies were cold & only half cooked! Neither the salmon nor the veggies were anywhere close to being "fork tender"... in fact, it could barely be cut with a steak knife! Speaking of steak... I ordered a 6 oz. Sirloin cooked Medium. The first time, it arrived at our table, basically raw with blood oozing from it. Apparently, the chef only set it on a plate somewhere near the grill so it could see the fire. So that was sent back in hopes of some actual flame possibly touching the meat. Eventually, on the second trip to our table, my steak arrived with the outside slightly charred, but inside it was red & tough to cut, let alone chew. By this time, the other 3 people were nearly finished with their meals & our schedule was getting tight, so I ate as much as I could just so we could get to our next appointment on time. Later that evening, I fed the leftover, half raw steak to a couple of stray cats in the parking lot at our motel.
I absolutely can't recommend this Ruby Tuesday's to anyone. In fact, I would suggest that anyone who thinks of eating at any other RT location might want to reconsider other possibly better options or at least...
Read moreWe were traveling through the area and wanted to stop to celebrate a special occasion with a nice dinner. Now we’re wishing we would have chosen a different location.
About 5 minutes after I ordered the New York strip our waitress (Lindsey, I believe was her name, who was great!) came out and informed me that the kitchen would need about 20 more minutes to defrost the steak and they were offering a T-bone instead. I didn’t mind the 20 minute wait since we had the salad bar available and I hadn’t had a NY strip in a long time. I said no problem we’ll wait (my mistake I guess).
At least an hour after we ordered, our food came with a lot of apology from Lindsey. She explained that in addition to the steak needing to be thawed, the ribs we ordered had to be remade because “something happened in the kitchen” and they messed up the order.
Now, the ribs were great! Tender and they fell right off the bone, so kudos for that. The steak, ordered medium, was so over cooked I didn’t eat 3/4 of it. It was the driest, grayest steak I’ve ever eaten. I tried to like it, but it was just terrible. The waitress saw that it was way over cooked and apologized. She even commented that it was “way past well done”. She offered steak sauce (which I declined) and apologized saying they have a new cook who was being trained on the pantry as well. I told her it’s not her fault, of course. We paid, left a tip, and left without being offered any kind of compensation.
I’m not usually one to complain at a restaurant, or send a meal back but now I wish I had. We paid far too much for a terrible dining experience so we won’t be returning. Again, the waitress was great and only tried to offer apology after apology for what she knew was so obviously a mess in...
Read moreIf I could give it a zero, I would! We were seated promptly, ordered dinner for two. Bourbon chicken and a salad bar. Ordered two Budweisers. The appetizer ( spinach dip) was good. That’s when it went downhill. Walked up to the salad bar ( THERE WAS NO SALAD!) I spoke to the waitress ( who apologized) and she stated, “ My manager is working on it”. So I went back to the table. I waited a few minutes and returned, the manager was filling the lettuce and greens station. Two children with their Mother ran up and jumped in front of me filling their plates high. Now the salad fixings were either empty or one spoonful was left. I again spoke to the waitress, ( again apologized) the manager returned filling the cheese and green peppers, the potato salad, pasta salad and other choices were just a spoonful again. Walked back to speak to the waitress ( apologizing again) the last time I attempted to get a full serving of salad, no croutons, and many other items were still empty. I spent more time looking for something to eat, than actually eating. The manager stated his “salad person” called off. He apologized. Seriously what kind of service does he and his wait staff give? Then to add an additional insult I was told that a “server” no longer runs the credit card, the customer has to! So the server brings a couple of beers, one dinner and wants 20%? I asked if she would just bring croutons and that wasn’t her job. I spent more time walking to and from the salad station than she did, “serving”. My advice is GO ANYWHERE ELSE! It was terrible! I added photos to show how after the manager “filled” the salad bar, many items were still empty and still no...
