First, I'd like to start off with the good things about Water Garden. It's the residents! For the most part, they are a great group of residents who really care about each other.... a sense of family, people helping each other. I truly miss them! But, I return often to help and to share some laughs!
Secondly, I'd like to respond to BJ's post. There was and IS an ongoing mold issue. Several apartments have experienced mold and those that were/are really bad have had dehumidifiers installed in the wall in the dining room area of their units. They are noisy and increase the monthly utility costs for those residents, without any compensation from the management or owner. This step was only taken after a group of residents sought help from Diane Wilson -Troubleshooter on ABC11. I personally had mold in my apartment.
When I had the opportunity to move, the property manager took it upon herself to enter "buying a house" as my reason not to renew my lease. I never told them I was buying a house. I crossed off the reason she chose and inserted my paragraph listing several reasons.
Some of my reasons were: the way the management staff treats the residents, the lack of communication and especially the unwillingness to answer questions of residents in a public forum, and then never ever addressing concerns. The building is five years old and the carpets in the the common areas (lobby, hallways, game room, etc.) were filthy! We asked several times about having them cleaned especially since pets are allowed, but until just last week, they were never cleaned and rarely even vacuumed! There are rules, but they don't apply to everyone. Some residents have multiple pets, but only pay for one ( once again, it depends on who you are. ) This same thing applies to parking. When you park in a spot that is supposed to be for residents of the family apartments or for your guests, you get a notice on your car that you will be towed. But once again, this doesn't apply to everyone. Many car tags are out of date. Surprise! It depends on who you are. Also, the number of inspections is ridiculous and they usually give you a window of a week. Therefore, those with pets have to confine the animals till the inspection is completed.
Mold! Mold! Mold!
And, if you decide to check availability, be sure you see the actual apartment you will be getting. Some future residents were shown one apartment, but were given another such as a handicapped apartment.
Be aware! Know what you're getting! Speak to actual residents! Ask...

I only rated this place at "1", because there were no options for negative ratings. This place should have been evacuated and torn down, years ago. I'm not a resident at this apartment complex, but I do have proof of the mold.
This mold issue has been reported to the Property Manager (Angie Smith), the Regional Manager (Gena Eckert) and Diane Wilson (Troubleshooter), with no progress in correcting the issue. The only time management "appears" to do anything, is during their DHIC/Housing Authority inspections or when a new tenant moves in and they try to cover up the mold, with paint or wipe down the exterior wall. This is an internal issue that has worked its way through the walls.
Tenants are having to continually clean mold in various areas of their apartment. THESE ARE SENIOR CITIZENS!!!!! Why would you leave this task to them, when it's the responsibility of the Property Manager/Regional Manager.
As stated in a previous review, the dehumidifiers that were installed, have done NOTHING to resolve the mold issue and only resulted in the tenants having increased utility bills.
WHY ISN'T MANAGEMENT CONCERNED? BECAUSE IT'S NOT AN ISSUE IN THEIR HOUSE AND THIS DOESN'T IMPACT THEIR RELATIVES OR...
Read moreFirst - If there WAS a mold problem?, they fixed it. Buildings get mold, seriously. Second - you can't "buy" yourself in to living here. This community is for seniors 62+. I moved in May 1st and couldn't be happier!! I am 63 and disabled, so living here is a true blessing. They have lovely large walk in showers (my back and legs thank you profusely), the kitchens are really pretty with all black appliances, ceiling fans in LR and BR, all within a secure building. EVERYONE I meet is so welcoming and friendly! The common areas are kept impeccably clean! And maintenance does a wonderful job! So Sheila Staton, before you go posting such negative reviews, please look into matters a little better, thanks. Because this is one of the nicest places I've lived in all my years. Thank you Ms. Angie...
