The Salvation Army Family Store — Local services in Mount Airy

I wouldn’t want such rude employees associated with the name “Salvation Army”. I think it would be better to not open than have people treated with such hostility. I understand it’s hard to get people to work, clearly they did not want to be there. I try to give people the benefit of doubt however it was both employees and after reading reviews it’s been happening for months. I know everyone can have a bad day or two but treating people so harshly isn’t a good idea when you are trying to make money. Also, if an item doesn’t have a price on it their response is, “ we can’t sell it because it doesn’t have a price.” Is there not a list they can refer to for prices? If not I would highly suggest you make one because you are losing even more money. I respect/admire everything the Salvation Army does for the community. I donate to them because of this but no one want or deserves to be...

On June 12 we drove 45 minutes to go to salvation army specifically with our donations (as opposed to goodwill, which is in our town) and was turned away because it was ten minutes from closing. We had a small pickup of high-end clothes, some new with tags, children's toys, some new, and even unopened packages of diapers, among many other misc. items in excellent condition. These hours are not posted online, in fact google says the family store is open til 5. And even if covid hours changed anything, we were there at ten til their presumed closing and they couldn't be bothered to receive our donation. Even though I mentioned that we did not need a tax receipt and was ready to unload the truck myself. Unbelievable. We are cleaning out my mother house and would have donated several more loads, but we will never be back to this...

I used to love going to this store and I still do. The prices are for the most part fair and I love what that represent helping people that are in need . I hate that recently they have been hiring people that are rude and treat customers like they own everything in the store . I used to love to go and see all the different Items I could buy not only for myself but so I could also help others but because of the staff I have started waiting until the nicer people are working it is a shame that they are no longer Hiring people that stand for the good will and charity that this wonderful foundation and store used to stand for . I will still be going to this store and continue to help other but as far as the staff they should really rethink...
