I love DTC, I really do, but some things are starting to irk me a bit about their selection. I'll break it down like this:
Pros: -Wonderful customer service!! -Wide selection of items -Store hours are decent -Some refreshing styles of shoes, shirts, etc.
Cons: -Prices. Wow. $20 for one pair of socks??? There's a lot of sticker-shock in here. -A good portion of women's gear isn't well-tailored for actual work, whether outdoors or in. More on this below. -"atmosphere"; this is a weird one. I feel like some folks look down their nose at me for walking in with my Carhartt coat and some work boots. Little strange for a store that advertises work wear. That's something I'm not quite sure how I'd deal with, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
My main problem: the women's work wear. Most of it's awful. Sure, it's cute and might make you look "outdoorsy" while you go for a walk around the suburb, but when I'm helping in my dad's shop, or hauling and welding heaps of metal at work, I'm gonna need some substance. A lot of the wear is polyester, spandex, with some cotton in-between. Those first two tend to melt when in contact with heat, and they snag horribly. My Duluth shirts haven't left the closet in months because of this annoyance. They also don't carry steel toe shoes or boots for women, which is a HUGE downer. Women's steel toe is already hard to come by, and I'd hoped there'd be some in the place that advertises quality work wear. One last thing for any other workin ladies: Stick to the men's section, their stuff is actually hardy, their T shirts are cotton, and they have a HUGE stick of lip balm by the shaving products. It's awesome. Also, they sell bags of socks. Not just one pair for $20, a whole fricken BAG. Not sure on the price of those though. Leave the ladies clothes for a fancy outing, they won't hold up...
Read moreThis review is a combination of my opinions of THIS location, another location near Columbus (Ohio), and overall Duluth Trading experience in general.
I am a tall man. I am ALSO a large man. It has been my experience that PRIOR to discovering Duluth Trading...that "Big and Tall" clothing should have been more appropriately called "Big OR* Tall" clothing.
I think Duluth is HANDS DOWN, the BEST store around if you are BIG AND TALL (or just normal sized, and love great clothing).
All of their stores are well stocked by knowledgeable staff, and very clean.
With VERY RARE exception, EVERY ARTICLE I have purchased from Duluth Trading (roughly $2000.00 worth) over the past 5 years has been excellent. Sizing, fitment, comfort, colors, styles and patterns have all been great.
The ladies I have spoken to in customer service department have BEEN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING (Sarah, Mary, and Renee)*
I had an instance where one of my Credit Card companies flagged a purchase from Duluth Trading as "suspicious" as I had never used that card to purchase from D/T before, and declined the transaction.
Rather than not sending my products...Duluth Trading sent it anyway, and advised me of the denied payment. Using a different card, I paid the "outstanding balance" the next morning.
Well, low and behold...I explained to the original Credit Card company what had happened, and they went back in and approved my purchase retroactively.
After I realized what happened but before I had a chance to react.....DULUTH TRADING CALLED ME....to initiate the refund to my card.
What a GREAT and HONEST company. I love these guys and plan to continue using them as long as I can.
#LOVE...
Read moreOrdered underwear from Duluth on 12/23/24. Received email the next day station label created, awaiting carrier. Contacted Duluth on 1/6/25 to check status as it still showed not picked up by carrier. They put in a replacement order and emailed me a return shipping label for "when the original order arrives". Still no original order and no replacement order. Then received a form letter from the 'CEO' apologizing for the poor service and how much better Duluth was going to be, It went to all customers, I'm not special. I called today to request a refund since nothing showed in transit. Escalated to a 'manager' when was told the same thing, they are on the way. Explained to the manger my situation and requested a refund. First was told, the same, on the way, when stated I still wanted a refund and if they showed, I would send them back. Said she couldn't do this, then later said, " I could give you the refund today, but you'd have to go through the hassle of sending them back. I said ok, I have a label already. Then it was" NO, I can't do a refund, you misunderstood." Got online and found there are multiple complaining of the very same thing. I.m out $75, but the CEO of Duluth send me a form letter, along with thousand more to customers without their merchandise, Does the term 'Class-Action" come to mind? I plan on taking the $250--$300 I've spent with them since before and after Christmas back to the local store for a refund and take my clothing...
