If you are looking for an apartment here, I would read this even though it is a bit long. I believe it to be a pretty impartial review. Many of the other reviews will validate this.
The good:
These apartments are located in a really amazing quiet area next to a golf course. It is also a 5 minute drive to get on the turnpike, which is a massive plus (and the only reason I think they charge so much for rent). For 50-70 year old apartments, they are in OK shape, and some of the layouts are not too bad. It's a pretty nice community, and if you don't care too much about bugs (indoors and out) and slow maintenence response/incompetent management then I would actually say this place is not too bad.
The bad:
Maintenence: very slow and sometimes seems non-responsive at all. Usually when I put in a ticket and go to the office they tell me they have no record of me putting in a ticket. As for response time, after following up a few times, it took Maintenence 3 weeks to change my outside light bulb (the one the helps light up the little hallway so I can see where to put the key in the front door). It took more than a month to get one of my closet doors fixed (entire door fell of the railings). The ABSOLUTE worst one by far was when the heat went out, in the middle of winter. It did not get fixed for 3 nights. 3 nights in the winter when Temps were below 50. The whole time this happened, they did not send any emails out or anything. Overall, If you annoy them enough, it might get done within a month. If you don't follow up then there is a 25% chance the work order won't be done ever.
Amenities: none. No clubhouse, no tennis courts, no pool, no gym. Many places nearby offer multiple or all of the above amenities for the same rent prices. You get a tiny discount for the ramblewood pool.
Rent prices: Bad. For niceish apartments that are not maintained well, and have no amenities, the price is unusually high. Every day they get new apartment prices. I got caught at a bad time and the prices were about 100 bucks over per month what it should have been. Needing a place to live, I sucked it up, and am now paying around $1200 more per year than some people who have a better apartment.
Bills: somewhat high. I know for a fact that my upstairs neighbors have more people than they are allowed to. Because they calculate the water bill by dividing water usage/number of residents, I am splitting the cost of paying for extra people. The worst part is that the leasing staff and management are aware of this, but choose not to enforce their own rules. The electric bill is very high. I do not use a lot of electricity. I have complained several times to the management that something in my apartment (fridge, oven, ac, etc...) is using a ton of electricity, but So far they have not done anything about that. Also the ac is terrible. It barely gets it below 72. Once you hit 72/71, then it takes about 30-45 minutes to drop by 1 degree. Once you get below 70, it's about 1 hour or more for every degree. This is for a one bedroom apt.....
Leasing staff: The leasing staff is actually very great and helpful. I have been working a lot with Joanna and Jim. They have both been exceptionally great. The other side however, management, does not seem to be able to get things together. It is very possible that the property managers supervisor Limits her or she has a lot of unfair restrictions she is held to by her leadership. Either way, management is highly incompetent whether it stems from kim, or from her superiors.
Final note: the bugs/other creatures. I have been getting hammered with is spider crickets. In other apartments I have even heard of mice and larger bugs. I went out and bought a bunch of my own traps which they never offered to reimburse me for.
If they post that friendly "Please contact us so we can talk more about this", please do not assume this was resolved. I will post an update if they make any serious attempt to...
Read moreI had a lovely woman, Alise, help me with an apartment unit that I was interested in prior to coming to the office. She showed me an apartment with a similar floor plan to the one I was interested in, and while we were talking she made some recommendations in places to look for furniture and things like that and was just really sweet in general. She genuinely cared and wanted me to have a wonderful experience here at Ramblewood which made me feel happily welcomed.
As for the apartment unit itself, I picked a unit that was renovated and not old. The kitchen is gorgeous with plenty of drawers and space, the counter tops are beautiful, and the appliances are amazing - the microwave is big, the refrigerator is spacious, and the dishwasher works great. The bathroom is standard, everything there works and operates as it should. The apartment unit has a lot of closets, a lot of space to store things, and it's just useful to have this many. After building and moving in all my furniture and decorating everything the place felt like home and I loved it!
So then why did I give Ramblewood 4 stars and not 5? While I can praise my apartment unit all I want, it took some work to make it feel like home. I am a very clean person so I wanted to make sure my place was spotless after building and moving all my furniture in. The kitchen and bathroom for the most part were already clean as they should have been, but the wooden floors that I have in said rooms, were just dirty - with dried paint and dust all over the floor. The wood also looked dead and dark. I bought cleaning wood solutions and polish and went to town with a mop and now my floors look better. All the carpet in my unit looked very clean but as someone who doesn't wear shoes inside their own home, I wanted to make sure it was actually clean, turns out it wasn't - I ended up cleaning a lot of gunk out of the carpet. Dirty floors aside, the only other minor issues I had was with:
All in all, as someone who has recently moved in, I'm very happy so far. Everything from management to apartment unit is solid. The staff here, including the head of maintenance - unfortunately I forgot his name - are all quick to introduce themselves to you if they haven't already and are really nice people who want to make your stay here enjoyable. Many of my friends and guests that I have had, all told me that they really like my apartment. Not just in the way I made it look, but it quality and space as well. I would genuinely recommend Ramblewood to anyone interested in living in the area and is apartment hunting right now, just make sure you look at renovated units as I haven't heard great things from...
Read moreI was a resident with Ramblewood Village Apartments for a year and a half, and my fiancĂ© lived there for one month short of 5 years. I would not recommend this apartment complex to my worst enemy. We moved out into December of 2017 for multiple reasons. First and foremost, the rent became unaffordable. We were loyal residents, paid our rent on time the entire length of our lease. My fiancĂ© moved into the complex in January of 2014, and every year the rent was raised by at least $100 each year. Our rent was going to cost us almost $1500 dollars for a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment. We were able to find a 2 bedroom/2 full bathroom condo for less than that. The money alone would have made us leave. However, there was way more. Residents pay a lot of money to a poorly run complex. We had multiple large appliances break in our apartment due to age, and the complex would never allow the maintenance department replace the appliances. Two examples were our air conditioning unit and our washer. Our washer was constantly thrown off balance even by the smallest, level loads. Maintenance kept coming back putting âbandaidsâ on wounds that required stitches. Our A/C unit was leaking onto the floor of our closet from the moment it was switched over to A/C. Our closet constantly smelled like mildew. And once again maintenance kept coming back, and not being able to properly fix the unit. At one point, we had a carpet fan in our closet, running nonstop for 3 weeks, which Iâm sure you can imagine what happened to our electric bill. We attempted to get compensation from the complex, seeing as it was their unit that caused this. The property manager was available to speak once, and then never answered any of my phone calls to address the issue. The one time I was actually able to speak to her in person, her assistant stated that he was in my apartment and the carpet dryer was off, which was not true. I felt as if they were trying to âcatch me in lieâ, so they didnât have to pay. Maintenance was out at least 3-4 different times to work on the unit. The only reason we stopped calling was because the A/C was switched off for the year, and it stopped leaking. They were also told to take an access wall down in our closet because it had mold in it by their carpet cleaning company. We moved out on December 1st that access wall was still up with mold in it, and the other access walls were never replaced. Quite frankly, we should have called the health department. Shame on us for not doing that. The front office employees were either rude or unhelpful when we called for whatever reason. The company fixed things that didnât necessarily need to be fixed at that moment, and then didnât complete the project. My new/current landlord asked to speak with someone in the front office to request information about us as tenants. Multiple voicemails and emails from him were gone unanswered. We were finally able to get in touch with someone that he could speak with after being told that we needed to give permission for them to released information. Had we known this, we would have consented immediately. However, we were never told or contacted with a request to give permission. He notified us that when he did call, the front office was completely unprofessional. He requested information as to whether we were actually residents. The front office employee responded with âWell, I have information in my system saying they are, so yeah I guess.â He also requested information as to whether we were paying out rent on time. The response he received was, âWell I donât know their names and have no notifications that they were late, so yeah I guess.â THANKFULLY, this did not affect his decision on our tenancy.
It's a shame because it used to be a great complex. New company bought it, and ran it...
