Three stars is being generous. If I could give two and a half I would. Fair tickets are already insanely overpriced so for those who go to ride the rides usually get the wrist bands. The rides don't even start up until five and the wrist bands (that you have to pay $20 for) stop being used at ten. So if you're part of a large family or a single mom wrestling three kids etc. who don't get there until later or you like going when it's cooler and the lights are going you have a small window of opportunity. And heaven help you if you have to have a bathroom break or want food at some point between the rides. I like to make it a point to ride each of the rides (excluding the rides for the small children of course) and I was only able to ride three of the meager amount they had due to the lines of 30+ people waiting to ride a ride seating eight seeing as the rides had half the seats down. Way to milk those wrist band prices.
The games were all pretty ok and even though I didn't walk away with any big prizes I saw others doing so and the food? The food was good quality fair food with plenty of stands selling lemon shake ups and cotton candy. That's what gave my rating that third star instead of two. All in all it was ok but I wouldn't want to go next year; I'd much rather save up for...
Read moreThe restroom was clean and for that I was so thankful, however, we did stand outside in line significantly longer than expected as the doors didn't open on time (never do with this fight promotion) and we were so glad to get to warmth it was around 25° outside on the 30th of Nov but once we got inside it was only warm for about an hour of the 8 we spent there. The huge iron shaped heaters hanging from the ceiling were on when we arrived but shut off moments later and the door was of course propped open as well. My kid is a champion amateur fighter in MMA and kickboxing and I will NOT miss a fight but I personally have pins in multiple bones in my arms and this is my first winter since they were placed and let me express how frustrating it is to be in pain the entire time you are at an event you paid to be at bc people have no consideration for the crowd they invited to come and again, we paid to be there. Seating was less than comfortable as well....I get it, fairgrounds so I expected bleachers but I didn't expect that cold ass temperature inside the building. NOT SATISFIED at all and we've had 11 fights as of now I sure hope we don't end up at this venue or with this promotion again!!! Do better or insist the people renting your building have certain standards it is winter time...
Read moreClassic Midwest fairgrounds. The fair board and staff work very hard to maintain the property and put on a quality event. The location is unique being in town vs a rural location. There are positives and challenges with this dynamic. The fair offers a range of activities. Outside of the fair week, the facility is frequently rented for gun and craft shows. It faces the same pressures as many older fairgrounds: shifting demographics and entertainment preferences along the financial challenges of a shrinking audience. Despite its age, the buildings are very well...
