One of the best places to eat in Muncie. Food is always good. They know how to scramble eggs. Not a fried egg patty folded over with a slice of cheese on top. If you have had it you know what I'm talking about. Our 2 year old loved the eggs, ate it before his Mickey pancake. Price is a bit higher here for food but the quality from the kitchen is well worth the little bit of increase.
Staff, well our waitress was real nice but we also had an adorable 2 year old that everyone had to come say hi too. He loved it and all the attention. Some of the staff don't seem with it, it does appear that managers are pushing the wait staff to continue to hover over tables asking if the are ready even if they are still looking at the menu. It could be worse if they never came back. lol I saw on more than one occasion this interaction with management and wait staff and we experienced it with our waitress. I think managers can ease up a bit on this so the customer does not feel rushed. There is a happy medium here.
A waiter did enter the bathroom while I was washing my hands to check himself in the mirror. He just stood in front of the paper towels well after I turned off the water and was facing him, never acknowledged my being there. Almost used his shirt to dry my hands but it appeared more dirty than my hands were after feeding a 2 year old pancakes.
Overall, this is a great place that may still have a few kinks to work out but if good food and great service is what you want then By Hand and Fork is the place to be in Muncie. A lot of places in Muncie do not seem to like having customers, but these people love your there and work so you will come back. Everything a...
Read moreI have been to Hand and Fork a couple of times since it has opened. I have had a decent experience the past couple of times until this last visit. The server was amazing and very friendly. I went on Christmas Eve (maybe that was my first mistake) to meet up with friends. I wasn't very hungry, but loved their momosas. This time I decided to get a bloody mary. I started to drink it and didn't like it at all. I think it must've been the champagne that threw it off. I only had two sips and instantly stopped drinking it. The server asked if I liked the drink (normally I don't complain, but I could barely drink it). I told her "no, I'm sorry!". She responded with is there something else I can get you? I asked for a momosa instead. The bloody mary was $7 and the momosas run $6. A few minutes later the server comes back and says that the manager scolded her and told her we couldn't change the drink for me. My friends ordered their food and I sat at the table with my barely drank bloody mary a little upset and confused. I understand if you can't give me a different drink, but there was no refund or manager insight to try and correct the situation or at least question why I didn't like the drink. I understand they were busy and it was a crazy day. It frustrated me that the owner couldn't take two seconds to come up with a better solution. I unfortunately won't be returning to this establishment...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place but it was very disappointing. The servers are quite slow (at least ours was). Three tables that came in after we did were served before us; the guy that came in right after we did was already eating before we had our drinks.
They don't give you time to look at the menu before they seat you, which is frustrating because you have to get all your information from the waitress. When we asked how things worked here we weren't really told, she just listed off menu items (they have "five" sides and four meat entrees). You get three sides with your meal, but one option is just gravy.
My boyfriend ordered a country fried stake and it didn't come with any gravy (which feels insane to me). My baked chicken was both small and dry. The salad is just lettuce. The beans were mushy and from a cheap can. Apparently they refill your sides (we were never offered this, but a nearby table was so it's something some people get).
The food overall was boring at best. Better to just go to a grocer and buy some ready-made potatoes, canned corn and beans, and one of those bagged baked chickens. Hopefully, they'll get their feet under them and change a few things (having everyone order at the front and take a number is a...
