Disclaimer: I buy 90% of my work clothes from Express and typically have a good experience, just not at this location.
I'm a bargain shopper and typically go to Express when they're having great sales. I have a credit card with them and spend way too much money there so they send me cash rewards.
You can use cash rewards on discounted items as I've done in the past and I just verified with their customer service line. They were doing 40% off everything so I stock piled but the cashier applied my cash rewards before the discount. I mentioned my concern when he was ringing me up but he assured me that the discount applied first then the cash... False
There were too many items to do the math quick so I did it at home to prove to myself what I already knew... I'd paid full price for all my cash rewards. I was irritated that even after explaining it he moved forward without double checking but sure I could get it corrected.
I went back into the store today and asked the cashier who called over I'm assuming a manger. We're now at three people that I've told the same story to. Instead of getting a clear picture of the situation the manager barley listened to my complaint and immediately started giving excuses. I was very stern that this hasn't been my experience in the past, if they did the math they'd see what I was talking about and no where on the cash rewards does it say it doesn't apply to discounted items.
She told me that no matter how they rang it up the total would be the same... false. Even if they were wrong, which they weren't... false... I'd have had to come in within two weeks to do anything about it... false and rude.
Good news, Express staffs it's customer service call center better. I called reported the issue at this store and they immediately caught the issue and fixed it. All without treating me like I was an idiot, giving me excuses and without the noticeable incompetence of this location.
Notes to Express Fashion Place Management:
Knowing how coupons, cash rewards and store discounts work should be a staple for all employees, especially cashiers.
When someone tells you you've made a mistake, getting defensive and giving excuses is never a solution, especially in a management position.
You're not protecting employees only hurting their success when you brush over mistakes like that.
Being a dick to someone with a complaint is the fastest way to get a negative review on Google and your...
Read moreAs I was shopping and grabbing my selections I expected someone to ask if I needed a fitting room. There appeared to be a young man engrossed with flirting with his coworker as they both worked around the same rack and table of sweaters in the women's department. Of the two associates in the same area as myself there was not customer assistance or interaction. As I made my way to the back of the store for the fitting room carrying the 5-6 selections of holiday party options; I was standing at the fitting room door frame as the same young lady approached walked in and out of the fitting room completely ignoring the customer standing there. As she walked away I addressed here with an "excuse me, can I please get a fitting room"? With what appeared to be distain from the associate she scrambled for keys and unlocked a door and said nothing. The fitting room reeked of a dirty diaper and they were filthy. I can only imagine what a magic eraser from Mr. Clean could do to the white baseboards, but that would require action and gumption which appears...
Read moreWhen I walked in the guy looked up and didn’t even greet me. I had a return. I was the only one in line. The cashier didn’t greet me or say anything. I stood in line waiting for him to acknowledge I was there. I told the cashier I had the receipt on my phone and he asked for my phone number. As I was pulling up the receipt I asked if he could see it with my number (since that might be faster). He didn’t even answer me. He just said x amount was going back on my card. No other words spoken and he had an attitude. I said oh so you were able to see it. Didn’t say anything and he threw the clothes across the counter. I shopped, no one asked if I needed anything or checked in at all. Chose not to buy anything because of this. Horrible customer service. Way to lose a customer who spends thousands. I’ll continue shopping online and doing my returns in your store due to your bad...
