I recently dined at Brio Italian Grille and, unfortunately, it was a mixed experience that leaned more toward disappointing—especially considering the price point. Right off the bat, the wait to be seated was unusually long. The restaurant was only about half full, but there didn’t seem to be a host at the entrance, and I stood waiting for about 15 minutes before someone acknowledged me. It also appeared that only two servers were working the entire floor. Once seated, I was given complimentary bread and butter. The butter was rock-hard and impossible to spread, and the bread was sliced in thick, wedge-like pieces more akin to pizza slices. While this might not bother everyone, the hardened crust made chewing uncomfortable—I had to be careful not to scrape the roof of my mouth. For an appetizer, I ordered the lamb chops, which were noticeably overcooked. Not inedible, but far from the tenderness I expect from lamb, especially when I can prepare it better at home. The soup of the day, minestrone, was actually quite good—flavorful and well-portioned—so no complaints there. The main entrée, chicken and spinach fettuccine, looked beautiful on arrival, but a few bites in, the saltiness became overwhelming. I couldn’t tell if it was the cheese or just an overzealous hand in the kitchen, but it really took away from the dish. Finally, the crème brûlée dessert came out with a severely burnt sugar hidden underneath the toppings. While most of it had the expected caramelized finish, about a quarter of the surface was blackened, and the bitterness of the burnt sugar ruined what should have been a smooth finish to the meal. Overall, while the minestrone was a bright spot, the service delays, overcooked lamb, overly salty pasta, and burnt dessert made the visit fall short. It wasn’t a terrible meal, but for the price and reputation, I expected better.

Great food, but the service was mediocre. Waiter got off on the wrong foot when I actually asked to see the weekday lunch menu, stating that "I guess we can get it for you, but we don't have a lot of people order off that menu". The lunch menu was not given when seating our party, which gives off an appearance that the restaurant wants to overcharge patrons. Advice would be to give patrons both menus upon seating and allow them to decide the appropriate portions when they dine-in. By not offering them that opportunity, you are showing a bias that you want to charge dinner prices for a lunch option. Waiter seemed uncaring and you could tell he did not want to serve us once I asked for the lunch portioned menu. I also had a free reward for $10 off, which I proceeded to use for a dessert. Upon receiving the bill, I was told that they would not be able to honor it unless I spent $30 (each individual was paying separately, so that amount would not have met that price point). I pointed out that the emailed coupon from Brio said NO MINIMUM PURCHASE required. I had to continue to argue the point even after reiterating and reshowing my email in which it clearly is stated no minimum purchase required. To summarize, this restaurant needs to improve on their guest relations skills and gain a better concept of what is allowed when guests are dining in. If a guest shows you clear proof from your establishment and company, you should be honoring that, not being argumentative over it. I would dine here again, but the service makes me hesitant to return.

The Brio is a beautiful "upper" scale restaurant. The decor is simple yet elegant. It is not a place I would consider overly romantic. I would love to see maybe a flower on the table (even Chick-fil-A has them) and maybe some soft background music to drown out the other diners conversation. There could have been some playing but if so it was too faint to hear. It was our first dining experience at Brio and it was Valentine's day. We ordered drinks and an appetizer to start. We received the appetizer but not the drinks. We did not get them until well into the entree'. The food was delicious. I could easily rate this a 3 star- Marcus our waiter was the jem of the night. It takes a great server to understand timing, not only when bringing the food but to stop and ask how we are enjoying it. I observed other servers being a little intrusive when on Valentine's you are really there to spend time with that "special" someone and you don't want to hear about your waiters life. Marcus was right on que...down to being put on the spot. My boyfriend asked why no rose on Valentine's- and asked if he could find one. Soon after 2 strawberry roses were brought to our table. *Be still my heart ❤. He was curteous, he tried desperately to get our drinks on time, but he never once put blame on the other staff. He made suggestions when requested. He is an amazing service provider. He is what will stand out about our Valentine's dinner at Brio.

We had reservations here because we were going to a comedy show at the Eccles theatre. And we were very excited to try The Brio @ City Creek. We arrived here 20 mins earlier then our reservation. Around 5:40pm We arrived there to find no one at the hostess station to greet us. With the restaurant was fairly empty we thought it was odd but ignored a very glaring sign of things to come ahead but like I said four .maybe five occupied tables in the entire restaurant. It was like 10 minutes wait to seat us

Then we ordered right away . appetizer and main course dinner and drinks. He came back with our drinks and bread fairly quickly. But 40 minutes later waiter comes back sorry we are out of the appetizer. Do you want something else? Sure we can do the shrimp eggplant thing. But we never got it . He did bring the latte out fairly quickly.

By 6:45 I was beginning to get impatient I said to the waiter we have a 7:30 show how much longer ? "About five minutes" he said So long about 7:10 to 7:19 we got our food. So we had to scarf our food down and not just enjoy our meal.

We had a coupon but the waiter nor the guy in the ponytail and apron. couldn't express how to use it. By this point I was over it. And my wife was ready to go full Karen . But I saved your staff from getting a full on A@# reaming in the restaurant due to we were pressed for time I just said to my wife "Just give the waiter the card to pay the bill and lets go."

They offered minimal apologies and no compnsation. For the inconvenience our being stuck there for just shy of two hours an hour stretch waiting for our food. On top of that I said to one of the staff " maybe when there is a Sunday show you guys should staff more. " He said "We don't make the schedule here. " So let me clue whatever staffer is stuck reading and responding to these reviews This restaurant is in Salt Lake City Utah everything else in the downtown area is closed on Sunday. There is a 2,500 seat theatre around the corner having a Sunday night show it might make good business sense to find out when shows are and slightly over staff on those days. And let folks know you are available. Then if not needed you can send folks home at least then whomever decides to stop by in this circumstance you can serve them. Also if you are out of an item instruct the wait staff prioritize going back to let the customer know and find out if anything else they might be interested and get it out without delay.

The food was good but here is the thing you can have the best product but if the service sucks you are going to lose potential return customers just like me.

And my expectations are not unreasonably high. But just shy of two hours most of it waiting is a bit much even for me to bare. By way of a comparison. We went to Spaghetti Factory yesterday and they were packed . But they had a person at the desk to greet us and seat us They seated us in five minutes due to they were near capacity took our order and we were done in less time then it took us to find out at your establishment was out of bisricetta.

Very disappointed would not recommend this restaurant. May I suggest to focus on service cause the best product brings them in but service...

Made reservations almost 2 months ago for Thanksgiving Day. Did not want Thanksgiving dinner which is the reason the family chose this restaurant. On the website and in the email confirmation, it stated that you could have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner or order anything off their regular menu. When we got there and were seated, we were told that only the Thanksgiving menu would be served. Very disappointing to learn this as no one wanted it. We were told exceptions could be made for food allergies, but nothing else. With no other options, as we had no food at home nor with other restaurants not open, we were compelled to sit for the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. It was mediocre at best. Cold stuffing, rubbery turkey, and lukewarm gravy dominated the plate. The garlic potatoes and string beans were decent, as was the cranberry sauce. The dessert was fine, but nothing exceptional. The overall impression was that the food had been done assembly line style with nothing prepared fresh there, only reheated and served. At $39, it was a complete waste. In terms of the environment, the restaurant had so many people jammed in there, many (including me) were forced to sit in the aisles. The constant bumping of my chair by wait staff was annoying, but there was nothing to be done. Of the 6 dinners served at our table, only one was completely eaten, two about half eaten, and three basically untouched. The one eaten meal was by a career Navy vet, who said it was about the same quality as on a ship, not the best recommendation for a full service restaurant. The only high point was the service. Our waitress, who was obviously overworked, was doing an admirable job of keeping up with such a rushed pace. I felt sorry for her as I imagine many other customers were disappointed by the bait-and-switch pulled the management/corporate. This was the first time I had ever eaten a Thanksgiving dinner outside of a home, and this experience has inspired me to never try again. In addition, I'm disinclined to visit Brio again during regular times, as the overall experience was a disappointment. Cannot...

Walked in to empty place, waited several minutes for s hostess, only two hostess working. Prior to ordering overheard our server comping two different tables their drinks and entrees because they were awful. Was happy with the bread and carpaccio was great. I originally wanted the gnocchi but server said she did not recommend it because people complained that it was "salty with no flavor"..... I ordered the risotto which was beyond salty and had puddles of oil and garlic on top, completely inedible!!! Then the shrimp and lobster fettuccine which came with large amount of lobster and shrimp that were so over cooked it was impossible to chew (like a rubber ball) the sauce had drained to the bottom of the plate and the noodles were dry to the point that the edges were impossible to eat. I attempted two bites and was not able to eat anymore. I set my plates aside as my husband ate his lasagna which was okay but comparable to a frozen dinner. The lobster and shrimp in my Alfredo had the most over bearing fish smell as if they had been cooked in a microwave. After sitting 45 mins without having anyone che k on us the server offered to bring boxes and I explained the issues I had with the meal and without hesitation she offered to remove my entrées from the bill. I NEVER complain or return food at restaurants but this was sooooooo bad and the fact multiple people did the same thing before our food arrived should have been a red flag. Multiple people actually walked back and asked the busboy if they could find someone to seat them! (Multiple employees were outside vsping and smoking) Completely understaffed and I have no idea what's going on in the kitchen. Only took two bites of the Alfredo and have been home sick since!!! First bad restaurant review I have ever made.... if negative stars were a thing I'd give that! I felt like warning people coming in. This was my birthday dinner and...
