Red Rock Brewing - Fashion Place Mall — Restaurant in Murray

VEGANS/VEGETARIANS BEWARE. Huge fail on our takeout order: • there’s no longer a dedicated area near the bar to pick up a takeout order. You now have to stand in a long line to see the host. • our takeout order was missing one of the meals. After waiting an extra 20 minutes on a busy Saturday evening in a crowded lobby, we received the missing entree. • they had given me a regular beef burger rather than the Impossible Burger patty that I had ordered and paid extra for. very upsetting for a vegetarian. • they no longer offer the black bean patty they used to offer which was always a safe bet for a vegetarian. The impossible burger is too similar to a beef hamburger, making it easy to confuse. But a chunk of fat is a dead giveaway that beef is beef. • they had failed to include grilled mushrooms that I’d ordered. And as per usual, only one tomato slice to split between two halves of the burger (this has never made sense to me). The amount of mashed potatoes we’d ordered for the side was paltry. • we supported Red Rock through the quarantine, helping them stay in business (we ordered takeout from them at least once a week and always paid a hefty tip to help out the food services workers) making this even more discouraging.

This was such a disappointing takeout experience on so many levels. I understand that many of my issues are first world problems. But when spending ~$60, I’d like to have my order correct. The most disturbing part is their error resulted in me eating meat. The manager did refund our money (and we do appreciate that), but the experience of accidentally eating meat due to their error is unforgivable, in my opinion. At the risk of sounding overly-dramatic, I’m sad that I had to throw out a hamburger, but even more upset knowing that the poor animal...

On a cold wet Utah day like today, we decided to hit up the Red Rock Brewery located at Fashion Place mall. We checked in and were told the wait was about 40mins, no problem as the mall was right there, so, off to do some people watching! At almost exactly 40mins we received the text. The place was clean and well lit, our server was very attentive and personable. We ordered appetizers of the stuffed portobello mushroom and the prosciutto wrapped tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. Both of these were amazing! I would give them both 5 stars. The entrees came next; grilled Ruben, Margherita pizza, Cobb salad and red rock burger. This is where the 4 star rating comes in to play. On the pizza the tomatoes were so thickly sliced that they overpowered the flavor of the basil, cheese and sauce. They were also not warmed throughout which left us wondering if they were added after the fact or added somewhere along the cooking, but at any rate this was disheartening to say the least as Margherita pizza is our absolute favorite. The Rueben came out and looked amazing, the flavor was good however the meat was sliced just as thick as the tomatoes on the pizza, which for some is a non-issue, but as a general rule people have in their heads a “deli” style slice on their sandwiches. The kraut had great flavor but was extremely finely shredded, almost to a discernible texture. The Cobb salad was amazing, and the Burger was great as well. We celebrated a birthday here. The food was pretty good, if a tad bland. But definitely a kind of place that everyone will find something to eat and like it just fine. I got the veggie burger, which was good. Particularly when I slathered extra aioli on it. I loved the bun though! Everyone seemed to enjoy their food equally. The drop in rating I give it is really due to the cleanliness of the place. There was food on the floor, a small layer of dust on the ledge of the wall next to the table, and the bathroom was really pretty unacceptable. Maybe we got here the worst time between cleanings, but the dust seemed to indicate that cleanliness isn't top priority to the restaurant.

But regardless, the service was great, I like the atmosphere, I liked all the merchandise and their gay-friendly atmosphere (indicating they welcome EVERYONE freely), and again, the food and presentation were just fine. I kind of baseline my review on four stars for good acceptable nice experience, saving 5 for over the top impressive; so with that in mind, the cleanliness was really a bummer giving us a solid...
