My experience with the Direct Electric for a Quiet Cool whole house attic fan installation. First of all the installers were an hour and a half late.Jennifer at Direct Electric and I called each other several times with an estimated time of arrival. She claims miss understanding between her and the installers on when they were going to get here. So they finally arrive very nice guys. They seem like they were overheated from the previous job. That was no fault of their own super hot out that day. They installed both of the fans. But Jennifer and I had discussed the fact that they were taking out my old whole house fan that sound like a helicopter taking off. There was going to be a gap from the new fan that they installed to the old one that was in there and they were going to put cardboard in the hole so that I could use the fan until I got a hold of my drywaller. The installation guys showed up with a big piece of cardboard to put in the hole that was going to be left over from taking out my fan and installing the new one. I explain to the guy the plan was to use the new fan system today. He explained to me that I would not be able to use it because the fan would suck the piece of cardboard up into the attic and then that would be an expose hole in the ceiling. I asked him if I go and get a nice piece of wood to use instead of cardboard if you could install it. He said yes not a problem then Iād be able to use it. I went to Loweās and spent $30 on a nice piece of wood. When the guys went to install it the installer told me that his boss said that he had to charge $100 to put piece of wood up. I told him I wanted to speak with the boss and he said the boss isnāt taking any calls after hours which was 4 oāclock in the afternoon. I told him to go ahead and install it charge me the extra hundred dollars. The following morning I proceeded to call Direct electric to talk to his boss during work hours. I wanted to let him know about the miscommunication with the cardboard and eventually end up using the wood. The fact they showed up late. I thought with all things considered he would refund me the hundred dollars after I explain to him the situation. I spoke with Jennifer told her what was going on she said Iāve never had one person called and say that the cardboard got sucked up by the fan. Again miscommunication from the sales representative to the installer. I explain to her I wanted to talk to the boss she told me she would give him the message he never called me he knew I wanted to talk to him. Basically he didnāt care is what I got out of it. The installers were great everything works great I just didnāt appreciate the miscommunication and then the lack of caring to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's been a little over a week since I had an appointment with DEC where they installed a whole house fan, a ceiling fan, and a few vents (they call zaps). I was first very impressed with their reviews and pricing. I received a marketing flyer at home that showed some competitive pricing. I called the number on the flyer, left a message, and was soon contacted by Jennifer. Jennifer was great throughout in scheduling the appointment and providing details while making recommendations. The pricing advertised was exactly the amount I approved when an estimate was provided.
The appointment time was reasonably near; i didn't have to wait long for the install. On the day of the appointment the installers worked very hard throughout. My only complaint about the appointment date was that the work was not completed. The installers were ready to leave when i pointed out the vents had not been installed. They pointed out that the vents were only added to the notes and not listed as a service item therefore I would need to reschedule. I explained that I was told the notes about the vents were added with the intention that it would be installed if I chose to have them installed, however, the main installer told me that they needed to leave because they had another appointment, they were late to. I didn't appreciate being told my appointment was done because of poor time management. There clearly was miscommunication within the company and it was unfortunately a bad service experience.
A new appointment was set up after I called Jennifer to let her know of the unfortunate experience. Jennifer showed urgency and expressed apologies for the misunderstanding and the way the appointment was handled. She was able to fit us in the next business day after a long three-day holiday weekend.
The equipment is working well and all was done after the second appointment. The company tried to do what's right, however, no credit was issued or offered. I think the company has the potential to be a 5 star service company, however, it appears that they have things to work on. I would recommend the company on the equipment and the pricing, however, I probably would recommend family and friends shop around for a company that also values and strives for...

I am not the one to post reviews, but this one stung me a little bit. I went with DEC because of a few of my friends used them in the past. So I made the call. Amazing customer service in the office. I received a quote quickly.
I requested a quite cool fan, which could not be installed because the roof had no access point for air flow. I requested out door lights and a fan.
The three gentleman that showed up where awesome dudes! They had great personalities and amazing work ethic. The literally hit every obstacle known to man, and they overcame it with the exception of the bedroom fan. So I was going to let this go, and I still am not going to request them to fix it because their estimate is cut and dry "minimal drywall damage". In my eyes a contract is a contract.
Well here is where it gets rather upsetting, when they went to install the two switch cover. It broke. Which I was okay with. They said they were coming back out and they did the next day. Although they came back requesting additional funds. Now I was given an invoice prior to them leaving, I paid it. No questions asked. I was told I still owed $129.00. So naturally, I got a little upset, hence the reasoning behind this review. I abided by their black and white on their quote as far as the dry wall is concerned and I feel that they should own their mistake. An invoice is an invoice in my eyes, payment rendered after services performed. i don't believe its the customers responsibility to ensure they have everything on their invoice prior to requesting funds. Thats me.
In conclusion, I paid their request amount and I will not be utilizing their services when I have a roofer come out and create a vent to fit a quite cool. So, $129.00 just costed them a customer and a future quite cool sale, as well as costed an associate they use for roofing his deal.
Business is business. I respect, their decision to request additional money for their mistake. I will just choose to do the rest of business elsewhere.
Again! Quality of electrical work fantastic! The three gent's that came out, fantastic! Invoicing needs some work. Hopefully, this helps whom ever decides to use them...
