Unfortunately I’ve tried reaching out to management or an owner via email and phone to no avail. This is a review based on my experience on 11/3.
I am sitting outside of Wingz and Mi after traveling to the restaurant to place an order. At 6:55 pm, I called the restaurant and was immediately asked if I could hold. I said, “sure”. No big deal, it’s Friday it must be busy. As the minutes passed I wasn’t sure if it was slammed or if I was forgotten about. After 20 minutes passed, I realized that I may have been forgotten about. I stayed on the line and traveled from the French Valley and walked inside. There were 3 individual customers ahead. I patiently waited. As I approached the counter I was greeted by Penny. I asked her if there was someone I could talk to, a manager on duty or owner. She said, “may I ask why?”. I told her unfortunately I’ve been sitting on hold for 35 minutes. She goes, “oh, sometimes we get so busy our employees forget”. I didn’t see anyone else around except for 2 men in kitchen and Penny. I said this actually happened about two weeks ago too. But I didn’t wait this long, I hung up and eventually an hour later was able to call back and place my order. She said, “I can give you a free drink”. I politely declined and said is there a phone number or email so I can get in touch with someone? She looked around and said no. I continued to press, almost to the point of begging for a point of contact when she finally printed out on receipt paper this email. Penny wasn’t apologetic, while she remained calm and caught off guard, it wasn’t quite the experience I imagined. I placed my order at 7:30 pm at the counter.
My husband and I come here 1-2 times a week to grab food for our family. We love it. We are just disappointed that this has happened twice in two weeks. We mentioned it the first time and asked about the phones. We were told something wasn’t working right with the phones. I’m hoping by contacting you, this is something you can address with your staff or come up with a different solution that might be beneficial for not only customers but for...
Read moreI ordered the umami banh mi with shrimp spring rolls.
I'm always in the hunt for good banh mi. Overall I thought the flavors were great, the beef was well seasoned and umami-sweet like bulgogi. I've noticed before that some places are just generally heavier on the carrot in their pickle mix, it might be style or preference. I prefer at least a 50-50 of carrot to daikon, as the daikon adds that refreshing moisture. My banh from here was almost exclusively carrot, and it didn't seem like it had enough time to pickle. The banh mi had a heavy helping of beef (no complaints there), but without the balance of more pickle to cut through the fattiness intensity I found myself taking water breaks just to cleanse my palette.
The spring rolls, like the banh mi, didn't skimp on ingredients. These puppies were giant, some of the biggest I've ever had. The problem here is that it was almost too much, too big for my mouth even. Inevitably when you make spring rolls with too much filling, your rice wrapper tears (both of mine had tears in the middle). I wouldn't mind if they made these a little smaller so they're more manageable, easier to dip and easier to eat. Despite that these had two highlights: they put in whole shrimp (most places cut them in half), and the peanut sauce was really good.
Overall, I love their flavors, and their willingness to not Penny pinch on portions, however from what I had this time, I felt they should scale back a little for the sake of balance. I'm eager to try...
Read moreSaw a video about this place on Instagram and the wings looked amazing so we stopped in for lunch ! Highly recommended online and in store is the “lemon pepper” wings. We were more attracted to the “tamarind Thai” wings so we ordered those. They were DELICIOUS! The Thai sauce was sweet and the wings were so crispy on the outside but tender on the inside - they were definitely my favorite item ! We also shared the garlic noodles and added chicken. They were good and better plain (next time we won’t order a meat on them). We then got an order of egg rolls to try. They came with carrots and sauce and were crispy and had nice flavor. Lastly me and my bf split the “chop chop” which is pork chop with rice and an egg on top. It was good but was a little hard to eat with plastic. The food portions were great but we ate there and it was hard to eat from the to go boxes they were served in. Again, we also used plastic utensils. We got small baby baskets to use as plates but it wasn’t enough for the food we ordered. We spent a total of $55 for everything. All in all- we are glad we tried it and will definitely be back to try the other...
