Kitty Hawk Surf Co. — Local services in Nags Head

We went to a lot of shops trying to find something unique. I was looking for something that wasn’t at every other shop in the area. I was blown away by the selection as soon as I walked through the door. They have a huge selection of so many great brands. Not just a few shirts here in there. I’m talking stuff you won’t find anywhere else. The entire staff was so friendly and eager to help. Of course, the shirt I wanted was out of my size. Kevin noticed I was looking for something and came to help. I told him I was looking for a Lg but couldn’t find one. He told me that they should be getting some more in two days. He said to check back in and they would have them. When I went back, Kevin had just got in and met me right away and explained that there was a delay in the shipment. He promised me that he was going to make it right. He gave me his cell phone number and told me to call him the next day before driving back to the store to make sure they were in. I told him that I’ve never had someone go so above and beyond for a T-shirt sale. He told me, it wasn’t about the T-shirt sale. He gave me his word that he would take care of me and he was going to keep his word. I got the shirt, and some other ones. I took my family in and they got some stuff too. Not only does this location offer the biggest selection we could find but the staff is kind and the management is top notch. Staff was extremely rude. The young kids that worked there lack customer service training but it makes perfect sense when you realize the management that they have running the show. When we informed management of the inexperienced staff with lack of ability to answer a simple question or take my money to ride the electrical shark they have, they didn't seem to care. All in all the store has some great product and some basic deals on branded apparel. But any establishment that doesn't see the value and importance of their customers apparently doesn't need my money. To be honest, there are great shops all around obx and I'm almost certain they would appreciate your business and have the same product. Don't waste your time being treated like your not valued.

However if your looking for remarkable service the McDonald's in kill devil hills stomps this surf shop and those folks are working for way less.

All in all Kitty hawk surf shop needs new management new employees and a whole new perspective that there customers are the only reason they get to stand around and pretend to feel important in a mediocre surf shop. STRONGLY RECOMMEND...

Very slow poor service, 3 issues in one visit. Employee seemed to either be high or didn’t know what he was doing. On the third issue he had to get manager who seemed to not understand what he did wrong and when I tried to explain issue she was annoyed with me! I just wanted to make my purchase and leave by this time I had it. She wanted to continue to understand/argue with him so I asked them to do that later. After looking at my receipt I was not only over charged I was not given the right amount of money/change. By this time I was not going back in. They both ruined my evening of just a short 4 day vacation. I have never been treated like that at a store that I had just made two purchases in.
