Ty The Appliance Guy — Local services in Nags Head

Called and left a message on Monday; and Ty got back to us within a couple of hours to set up an appointment for the next day. He arrived about an hour early, but called about 15 minutes prior to ensure that was okay. We had been having some problems with the broiler on our oven and the ice maker on our refrigerator, which were both about 18 years old. He quickly got to work checking them out. Fortunately, he fixed the ice maker fairly easily with some adjustments and leveling. He identified the issue with the broiler and tried to get the parts necessary to repair it, but the parts for this specific problem were no longer available. However, he thoroughly tested it and let us know that the oven functioned with the exception of the broiler and would not present a safety risk to continue using it until we were ready to replace it.

At first we were really pleased with Ty’s work- he was responsive and diagnosed the issue. I thought the price was a tad high but we were in a bind so we went with him. Upon first use of the dishwasher after it had been “fixed” water was everywhere and we had a tenant in the house. (We have video.) He did offer to return immediately and take a look at what happened. Ty claimed there was nothing wrong. But I’ve had this happen before- person comes out, fixed an issue and forgets to hook the water drain back- honest mistake…if they own up to it. We still have a little water escaping and when we called back, no answer. Very disappointing and makes me think I should have just bought a new dishwasher for the price we paid him. Hope my floor doesn’t rot out bc there’s a leak....

Tyler was quick to respond, super professional, and above all, he was honest. He took the time to try and diagnose the issue, eventually telling me it would likely be a waste of time and money to try to fix it.
