Like a magnet, I was pulled into the extraordinary boutique, Marilyn’s on Fifth in Naples, when I first spied the colorful array of smart designer fashions hanging among the appealing displays of accessories. Once inside, I stayed put and have returned over and over again over the years because of the incredible owner, Marilyn Hellman, her wealth of knowledge on all things couture and the ease in which she could pull together the perfect outfit for me. All of those “perfect outfits” have proved to be timeless as they still hang in my closet and are my “go-to” ensembles on any given occasion. To complete my wardrobe, Marilyn has outfitted me with the accessories she’s acquired on her many shopping jaunts through Europe. And oh the shoes!….Marilyn, as only she can, has managed to ferret out the most talented craftsman Europe has to offer. She has chosen these exceptional people to produce her wares. DO NOT SHOP IN THIS STORE!!! My sister, her husband and I recently went into Marilyn’s looking for gowns. Let’s be clear. If I could give zero stars I would. I am a wealthy person, not that it should matter, and I was prepared to spend a lot of money for a formal gown. It was a “Pretty Woman” moment as we were clearly judged by the way we looked when we entered. When we walked in, a very pleasant sales clerk approached us and asked what we were looking for. I responded that I needed a formal gown but before she had a chance to show me the gowns, the owner came forward and told us we should go shop in a store close to my home. I was so taken back that it prompted my brother in law to say “ They clearly don’t want your money” And let’s be clear, he is a very wealthy man as well. I will NEVER shop in this store again. I’ve had the great pleasure of shopping at Marilyn’s, where customer service is raised to an art form. The first time, I just walked in to browse and walked out with great items. The selection is unique and the best part is that Marilyn designs her own line stems can be tailored to your liking. The second time I made an appointment and Marilyn had a wide selection of options from which to chose. There is absolutely no pressure and you will leave knowing that you’ll look your very best.
