So disappointed in our experience with Opa after reading all of the positive reviews. We ordered takeout, and while the food was ready on time, I did not order falafel as shown in the receipt, so had to wait for a replacement order to be prepared. (No one offered to pay the difference back to me either.) I wasnât in a rush, so no big deal. However, when I got home and unwrapped everything, we discovered that there were just as many ketchup packets as there were soggy fries. Still, not a problem, we stuck them into our air fryer to finish cooking them.
The real issue was getting to the Pastitsio. I honestly thought they had forgotten it. It was a full entree with an entree price (vs the other wraps that we ordered) and it came in the tiniest container and looked like it had fallen on the floor before handing it over to us. It didnât look like anything but a pile of disheveled pasta. Attached photo for reference bc it was so utterly disappointing. We could have gone to any Greek restaurant but we chose to try Opa. I doubt...
Read moreIn search of authentic Greek food, I stumbled upon Opa Greek Restaurant, which had promising reviews. However, it fell short of my expectations in the food department. I decided to try the Lamb Gyro, a simple dish that should have been a delight. Unfortunately, the razor thin strips of shaved meat lacked flavor, and the meat was steamed, rather than cooked on a traditional skewer-style top or trompo. I don't believe it was lamb but a mix of meats compressed.
The excessive amount of tzatziki sauce on the gyro further detracted from its overall taste.
Similarly, my wife ordered the lamb stew, served in a traditional clay pot, but was disappointed to find only shreds of lamb instead of the expected whole pieces of meat.
We also ordered the Kibbes, which unfortunately lacked flavor and had very little meat inside.
In conclusion, the restaurant has the potential to offer an exceptional dining experience, but improvements are needed in the preparation and presentation...
Read moreFound this gem after searching for Greek food in Naples for a visitor from the UK. The great reviews were spot on. The place is not at all pretentious, the chef/owner Ash is friendly--and we could tell he was well loved by local regulars. Always a good sign. I had the dolmades (with meat) and a Greek salad with gyro meat added. I really wanted to try everything on the menu, because it all looked so good. The dolmades were fantastic and freshly made, and the salad hit the spot. My partner in crime had the marinated, grilled octopus and a Greek salad to start. Everything was served with a warm, fresh pita and delicious, tangy tzaziki sauce. My partner enjoyed the octopus especially and decided to also go for the seafood tangine. Absolute perfection. We debated a bite of baklava, and Ash brought us 2 pieces. Good thing he did, because it was warm, honey soaked deliciousness. The perfect end to a great meal. I hope to return next time I'm in Naples and explore more...
