DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE WITH YOUR HOME. My husband and I were out of town for most of last year and chose Naples Vacation Properties to handle the rental of our home while we were away. The service was mixed, but there were two huge issues that drove me to write this one-star review. We installed brand new electronic locks on our front and back doors before we rented. We kept one set of keys for ourselves and gave one set to Jake. When we returned, we asked for our keys back and he canât find them. Even worse, I have emailed twice to see if the keys have been found and he is not returning my emails. This is extremely unprofessional behavior. If they cannot find the keys, they need to replace our locks. He has ghosted us once before (the other huge issue). One of our renters threw an enormous party for a youth soccer team at our house. The entire block was parked up with cars and the party was so loud that one of our neighbors called the police. The management company sent someone over to break up the party (credit to them for that) but when we asked if we had any recourse (extra fine for the renters for breaking the âno partiesâ clause in the contract of the ability to write a bad review of them on AirBnB, etc.) Jake ignored our questions. Unresponsive, unprofessional behavior. I do not recommend this company.
Edited to add: I will attempt to be measured in my response in spite of the fact that I am absolutely infuriated with this company. That they âhave no recordâ of me giving them my keys is exactly the problem. I am glad that our new electronic locks functioned as advertised. I gave Jake a key in case they did not. For those who donât know (I didnât know until I installed the locks), electronic locks come with a master key in case the batteries die or you forget your code. If someone has that key, it makes your locks useless; no matter what code you enter, someone can override that by just using the key. Jake stood in our living room while we talked about the new locks we had installed. We gave him an instruction booklet for the locks because it was a brand he wasnât familiar with (also did not get that back from the company, I assume it was misplaced as well) and a master key for the locks. It honestly never even occurred to me that I shouldnât trust a property management company with my keys. Their response that âour team⌠accessed your home via the electronic code systemâŚand weâve shared this information with you multiple timesâ is extremely deceptive. We called to ask for our keys back, Jake said he couldnât find them in the place where they keep the keys. We called again, he checked at home and couldnât find them there. My next two emails went unanswered. Iâm sorry, but âwe canât find your keysâ is not the end of the conversation. They are a property management company and they lost our keys. That is extremely unacceptable and they need to replace our (now useless, because of them) locks. As for the terrible renters who threw the giant party at our house, the problem is not that it happened. The problem is that we asked repeatedly what could be done about it and Jake did not answer. Total radio silence. The âresponseâ on this review is literally the most information weâve ever received about the issue. This company has shown a pattern of poor communication. When you trust your house to a management company, you expect that they will at least answer any questions that come up. That has not been our experience with this company. They will ghost you when they feel like it and there is nothing you can do about it. Because the company is just Jake and his brother, if something goes wrong and they decide not to answer, you have no recourse. There is no supervisor or manager to call. The garden is unkempt â it hasnât been maintained in a long time, and many of the plants are dried out. The pool is very small, and the tiles around it are loose and unstable. There is no sunshade by the pool. The beach equipment is in terrible condition. One of the bikes is unusable, and the others are in bad shape. The covered outdoor seating area has dirty cushions and doesnât invite you to sit and relax.
Itâs the same story inside the house. Some of the door stoppers have fallen off, the air conditioning in one bedroom barely works, and in the master bedroom, the ceiling fan doesnât work at all. Some of the blinds canât be pulled up. In the bathroom, the crank to open the window is missing. The toilet seats were loose, and the towel holders fall off when you hang towels on them. One sink was clogged. One of the TVs doesnât get any reception.
One of the dining chairs is broken â the parts for a new one are now lying in front of the entrance door. Shall i mount it?
One hour after we arrived, we emailed the rental company using every address we could find. That was Saturday. Itâs now Tuesday afternoon, and we still havenât received any response!
And since Monday, there have also been roofers working at the house next door â so weâve had loud construction noise from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM with no prior warning.
