I don't understand how no reviews mention the REALLY LOUD TRAIN HORNS ALL NIGHT. I never like bashing a small business but this just seems disingenuous that neither reviews nor the hotel would give a heads up. Maybe it's obvious to some based on location but I assumed if no reviews mentioned it it wasn't an issue (maybe no trains or horns at night or rooms well insulated against noise). This was the worst sleep I've had in a hotel ever, getting woken up 1-2 times per hour by loud train horns that last over 30 seconds, and just when you're about to fall back asleep another one comes! I get it's not in the hotel's control (other than maybe don't build it there) but some sort of heads up or genuine reviews would be appreciated here given how bad it was (and I've slept in shoddy hostels around the world). Especially at this price range you assume you can at least sleep.
It's unfortunate because staff was super nice and hotel looks nice and clean with some thoughtful touches but man if you're booking this to sleep, expect you won't.
We literally booked this to save ourselves a tired and unsafe 2 hour drive back after my birthday outing and that kind of ruined it...
Read moreOur youngest daughter just got married this past weekend and we put them up in the P.A. Smith for the night of the wedding to give them a nice place to stay after the event was all done. Speaking to our daughter and son-in-law after the stay, they couldn't say enough nice things about their experience: From the courtesy of the staff, to the tokens for coffee at the great coffee shop, to the beautiful room and overall hotel itself, to the flexibility of letting them check out just a little bit later, the P.A. Smith did it right. Wish we could have kept them there longer, but they had to get back to work the following day!
My experience calling ahead before I made the reservation to get recommendations on the rooms and places to eat and later to add champagne to their room could not have been better. The young man I spoke to (I think both times, and I'm sorry I can't remember his name) was extremely helpful.
Thanks to the entire team for making our young couple's stay a very nice one as they head out to the next life chapter...

The P.A. Smith Hotel is a hidden gem in the heart of historic Navasota. It perfectly blends old-world charm with modern comforts. Think rich, thoughtful décor and a hotel scent so good you’ll wish they bottled it (honestly, they should).
Michael deserves a standing ovation for his 5-star service—genuinely warm, helpful, and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.
The hidden speakeasy was such a fun touch (don’t miss it), and we appreciated the little details like the gift bag with earplugs—yes, earplugs!—because Navasota is a train town through and through. The trains are part of the experience, but the hotel was built to serve in that part of history and they do a solid job prepping guests for it.
All in all, this place is full of heart, history, and a whole lot of personality. Would I stay again? Yes. Would I recommend it to friends looking for something a little off the beaten...
