We made reservations here months in advance to ensure we had a beautiful & special place to take my mom for mother's day, but it's unlikely we'll return after the experience we had.
We arrived 10+ minutes early for our reservation, but the valet parking was so backed up into the road that we ended up being 10+ minutes late to our reservation since the only option was to use valet parking. You'd expect that this would be something they'd have down pat considering they run weddings, multiple holiday brunches a year, etc. When we went upstairs, we went to the desk to let them know we'd arrived and the woman says "I'm going to stop you right there-- turn around and that man over there will help you." Seemed a little curt but no big deal, turned to the man standing in the lobby with a clip board, he checked us in and asked us to sit in the beautiful waiting area. We sat for maybe two minutes when the hostess told us to follow her. We followed her through the busy buffet area to the dining room where she pointed us to an 8-10 person table (we were only 5) at the very back of the room between the kitchen doors, pointed to it so she didn't have to walk us to it, and said "you can sit there" and turns around and leaves. We walk the rest of the way to the table to discover that not only is it the worst table in a room with many open tables closer to the river that remained uninhabited for our entire meal, but the table was dirty. It had not been turned over and had a dirty tablecloth, silver ware, drinks, no place settings, etc. My husband found the manager and shared that the hostess told us to sit at a dirty table and she asked a waiter to clean it, while we were waiting, my mom sits at the next table to get off her feet as a server cleans the table and the manager comes back and says we can just sit there. We would have preferred to wait in the lobby for another 5+ minutes to get sat at a clean table...
After that strange incident, we got our food which was good but nothing special, considering we paid $75/person + $15 for a mimosa. Meats were dry (with exception of carving station) but desserts were tasty. The waitress we had was great, very kind and attentive as she could be.
When paying our bill, we followed the valet's instructions to text them to pull around our car. We waited for about 20 minutes before going to ask them if there was any progress (when they took our car to park it they told us to expect a 5-10 minute wait after we sent the text for the car to be pulled around)-- which is when we saw the madhouse at the valet desk and learned that the texting program was not working. There were some families who claimed they'd been waiting for over an hour. My husband noticed our car was in the lot so we waited in line (another 20+ minutes) and asked them for our keys so we could get the car ourselves and open the spot up for another customer. My sister's car was valeted to a spot offsite, so we asked multiple valets the location until we found one who could tell us where it was, had them hop in our car and we drove them to the lot they told us it was at. They were wrong about the location but luckily the car was new enough to have the tracking in app so we popped that open and found it and got the keys from the valet on that site.
For a meal that cost nearly $500 for 5 people, we were disappointed with the treatment from the hostess, the dirty table, the food being just ok, and the horrible parking situation. Only bright spot was...
Read moreWe did dinner with 4 people at Odette’s on a Saturday night. We arrived early to have some cocktails at the bar before dinner. We were pleasantly surprised that despite being packed, you could easily hang out at a high top or other various areas and enjoy a drink before dining. We asked to be seated in front of the river and the hostess made it happen. The restaurant is beautiful. Great lighting, lots of natural wood, a fireplace and situated right on the river with incredible views. All of the staff were great, attentive and knowledgeable. I did feel they could have bussed the table better in between dishes. With four people at a small table, room runs out quickly. We were left with menus, empty glasses and extra plates for extended periods leaving no room for the next item as it arrived. We did the clams in red, muscles fra diavolo, bacon and tuna tacos. The appetizers were delicious. After our appetizers we waited over an hour for our entrees. Several times our waiter swung by the table to acknowledge the wait, apologize and ensure us he was on top of the kitchen to get the items out. When our entrees arrived only one was decent. I ordered the 16oz strip medium with mashed potatoes. I also asked for the bone marrow addition, assuming I would get the bones with roasted marrow along side the steak. I received a sort of compound butter, with marrow I suppose, atop the steak. The steak was well seasoned and I love that they weren’t afraid of the salt. The temp was perfect as well. The mashed potatoes were extremely lack luster. We also ordered the gnocchi which was a complete miss. The gnocchi were tuff and rubbery, the seasoning was overpowered by pepper flake and honestly tasted like nothing else. It was dry and felt as though it was either an insanely bad preparation or was once decent but sat under a heat lamp to die. We also did a filet mignon which fell shy of medium and was slightly overcooked. Ultimately I would not return. I can excuse a wait of that magnitude if the meal hits the table and blows me away. We ordered a few bottles of wine, good convo, great view and could have finished with an impressive meal…but sadly we did not. I usually don’t, but I was honestly so stunned about that gnocchi that I said something to the waiter. A manager did come over and address our concerns, they provided a dessert of ice cream (not requested) and comped items to show their regret...
Read moreI desperately wanted to like this hotel. Unfortunately we had a terrible experience Left our room at 11 on a Sunday to return at 4pm. The room was partially tended to. One bed was made and one garbage can was emptied. I called the front desk and they said they would send someone right up to finish the job. We left the room and returned shortly after 6pm. The room still hadn’t been cleaned. I called the front desk again. 15 minutes later had to call again… I was told they didn’t make the second bed because a personal item had been left on the bed. Shame on us- we do know better. The funny thing is when we left the room at 4 we took that iPad with us so IF someone had bothered to come in they would have seen that. I’m still unclear why the bathroom wasn’t freshened up. No fresh towels. No vacuuming. After 3 calls to the front desk they sent up fresh towels. The dirty coffee mug from the morning was still there. They also don’t stock the creamers with a variety, only hazelnut, which not everyone likes. When stepping off the elevator there was a half eaten salad and two Coke cans left on a table. I would not mention it to the front desk if we had our room cleaned. At the price that we paid- this is unacceptable.
Our first night there we did go up to the rooftop bar. And sat for about 10 minutes with no service. Eventually gave up.
We expected so much more from this hotel. I could not...
