To be clear, I cannot speak to the quality of the jewelry they sell. This review pertains to a service I had done.
I dropped off my Seiko watch the first week of December to have the watch band reattached. One of the pins holding the band to the lug had broken. Keep in mind that this is a bone-stock, mass-produced, off-the-shelf Seiko men's watch, and that I had removed the pin myself. When I brought it in, all it required was to have the stock band reattached.
The woman who helped me was extremely friendly, and told me that they would call me back with an estimate, possibly later that day.
I didn't receive a call back that day, or within a week. I called back a little over a week later for an update and, after an apology, was told that their "watch guy" hadn't looked at it yet, but as soon as he did they'd give me a call.
Another week went by. And another. Christmas came and went. A month went by. Then another week. And another. And another ...
TLDR: It took them nearly 2 months to reattach the watch band on my mass-produced Seiko watch. Had I driven the extra 8 miles or so to the mall and found one of those watch battery/band replacement kiosks, I would have walked out the same day in the time it took me to buy a cup of joe and check out the sale at JC Penneys.
I understand that they didn't have a "watch guy" on premises and had to send it out; I understand that COVID had impacted the person who handles their watches and knocked him down for a week or so. I get all that, but they could have been proactive, set the expectation up front, and called me at least weekly to give me an update on what was going on. I had hoped to have the watch back by Christmas, but that's OK - at least I would have known what to expect.
The kicker? By all appearances they didn't even bother cleaning the watch while it was on vacation for 2 months.
So all that to say, they may sell great jewelry - I wouldn't know. But avoid when it comes to even the most basic of...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about Zembar Jewelers in my hometown of New Lenny. I brought in my vintage gold watch with an expansion band that needed adjustment. The team quickly realized the expansion band was a bit too complex to handle in-store, so they shipped my watch out for adjustment at no charge.
Normally, that process takes 2–3 weeks, which is completely understandable—but I had a wedding on August 9th and dropped it off only about 10 days before. They went above and beyond by putting a rush on the repair, getting it back to the store in time, and even calling me the minute it arrived so I could pick it up the day before the wedding.
The customer service was perfect from Cara and the other associates, as well. Every interaction was friendly and professional, making me feel like my project actually mattered. This kind of customer care is rare in the days of big business. I recommend Zembar for all your jewelry shopping, repairs, and alterations—you won’t find better service anywhere, and the prices on the items I saw in store, on top of the cost to alter my watch, were the absolute best in the area. GOATED...
Read moreI visited Zembar Jewelers on Saturday, May 6th after hearing nothing but great things. In arriving at the store, both representatives were busy but still greeted me and were friendly. My purpose of stopping in was to find a gift for my wife as this would be her first Mother’s Day. The representative that worked with me was the daughter’s owner who was incredibly professional and helpful. She provided recommendations, options and even asked for my budget to keep our focus. I ended up purchasing two items that I was incredibly impressed with. While checking out, the store slowed down in which both representatives were personable and thanked me multiple times for my business.
Zembar Jewelers is definitely a hidden gem of New Lenox and I am so glad to have found a family owned. Business with such great service and products. We’ll definitely be visiting again for...
