Laura's Candies — Local services in New Orleans

I have ordered to the Louisiana turtle candies several times on line from Laura’s and paid the exorbitant shipping cost because they were so good. I was in NOLA a few weeks ago and I visited the store and purchased two cans. To my surprise when I got home and bit into one, it tasted stale and the chocolate had begun to turn white. I googled why chocolate turns white and it says because it is old. I’m very disappointed that the quality of turtles in the store is not the same as ordering online directly from the factory. I refuse to pay the shipping just to get fresh candy so I won’t be ordering from them again, nor will I visit the store when in NOLA. After I took this picture I disposed of the candy. Shop was empty. Items on the shelves were dusty and bottles with rusty caps on display. The older, white woman looked at us as though we were disturbing her. We were not offered samples, which is understandable in times of COVID. We decided to purchase a praline to sample and decide if we wanted to purchase more. The woman snatched it out of my friends hand and said “where did you get THAT from?” There was a basket full of them on the counter. “These are already sold!” She was beyond rude. I quickly left other items I intended to purchase as I would not spend one penny in that place. I don’t know what planet she comes from, or who hurt her, but she has no manners or business sense. Smaller store but excellent service the lady there was super sweet she let us try everything before we decided on buying stuff. Salt water taffy is sooooo amazing and is sold by pound. Chocolate candies are delicious as well. Amazing selection. There are little tasting areas for almost all the chocolates. They have great gift options and super cute little eclectic items. I tried the healthy candy made with acai and dark chocolate and ended up buying some. It was delicious definitely try it the owner said she thought it up and ended up putting it out and it became super popular. I can definitely see why. Must try item.
