The wife and I went to NOLA for my 30th birthday. While we were both disappointed with the french quarter, our disappointment was quickly turned around by Gators and Ghosts. Tracy at the booking place was really friendly and very knowledgeable about the services and what to expect. She answered all of our questions and didnt make us feel pressured to book a tour. Because of her we booked a pontoon swamp and plantation tour.
We. Were. Not. Disappointed. This was the Louisana experience we were looking for! The Oak Valley plantation was absolutely amazing delivering a mix of interesting history and somber rememeberance for the enslaved, coupled with beautiful scenery. The tour bus driver Keith was not only friendly but he also made sure to make everyone on board feel at home and made sure he didnt leave anyone behind. He also made sure to explain each route before we took off so we would know when we were arriving at our destination and what to expect along the way.
In the pontoon boat Capt. Reggie was truly an amazing tour guide. Because of him i learned a ton about the swamps and the ecosystem that envelopes the area. He has an awesome sense of humor along with his knowledge he made our tour amazing. We saw tons of gators learned about them and even held a baby gator.
The ride back to the hotel was awesome. The driver made sure the A/C was blasting which was greatly appreciated after hanging out in 100° swamps. He also made sure to call out each stop with the names associated with those stops so we didnt miss our stop. Overall, Gators and Ghosts helped take my birthday trip to a new level. I WILL be booking again if i find myself here...
Read moreHonestly, really disappointed by this whole experience. We originally wanted to go on a gator tour on a riverboat and we were told we couldn’t do that because it wasn’t wheelchair accessible. Then we were told the paranormal tour was wheelchair accessible so we decided to do that one instead. The tour is not wheelchair accessible, the meeting place was literally not wheelchair accessible nor were the 2 locations we went to. The tour guides seemed completely surprised and unaware that we had someone in a wheelchair in our party so there was a clear lack of communication and preparation. It also rained heavily, which is unavoidable in NOLA, however there was no backup locations and we only visited one place and then the 2nd location was a complete bust where 12 people were told to squeeze inside a closet. Two people left and two of us sat out so the other 8 could sweat in a tiny closet. Everything felt completely unprepared for. You know it rains and your site says tours go on rain or shine, so why would you not have different locations to tour in case of inclement weather? Also only two spots get visited on a tour that costs $69 per person? That’s ridiculous and not worth the money. We expected at least 3 or 4 sites. Not only that but the stop at a bar to encourage people to drink and spend more money is corporate pandering and rude. Like at least include the cost of a drink in the ticket price if you expect people to drink. Just overall, a not so great time and really...
Read moreI have been to NOLA twice. I have used this company more than once. I have had nothing but enjoyable experiences with them.
First time, I did the vampire tour. I like vampires so I had a blast. The tour guide was very funny, talkative, and just all around good fun. You will do some walking around the French Quarter, so wear some comfortable shoes.
Then, I did their alligator tour. That was also a good time, you get to feed alligators and even pet a baby one! Going through the swamp in an airboat is a blast, especially if it is hot and you get a breeze. Our captain was funny and very interactive. It was awesome watching him catch a baby alligator with his hands!!
Second time I visited NOLA, I did their city bus tour. A transportation company picked me up from a convenient location and took me to the actual bus. That was pretty cool if you ask me. We drove around NOLA, seeing historic monuments, stopping at NOLA City Park (very beautiful park), and driving through neighborhoods that were ruined by Hurricane Katrina. I enjoyed this one a lot, it drove us to parts of NOLA that were very beautiful and I didn't even know existed. The tour guide was a very funny man.
I have genuinely enjoyed my time with this company. I highly recommend them. If I ever come back to NOLA, I will need to add the plantation tour...
