Hearty & Tasty Ramen! 🍜💫

The ramen over here was really good! I tried the Kuro ramen ($18.00), whereas my friends tried the Pork Tonkotsu ramen ($17.00) and the Geri-Kara "Too Spicy" ramen ($17.00). For the Kuro ramen, the broth had a very black garlicky taste to it, which is a great thing since that is how it's supposed to taste as said in the menu. My friends said that the Pork Tonkotsu ramen was good too and that the Geri-Kara ramen definitely lived up to its' name since it was very spicy to the point my friends had a bit of a hard time handling the spice! If you're a person who loves spicy foods, then the Geri-Kara "Too Spicy" ramen is definitely for you! For drinks, I got the Yuzu Lemonade ($4.50)... it was so good! It reminded me of a satsuma type of flavor, very enjoyable. The price is a bit expensive, but I'm not really surprised since it's located on Magazine Street where most places will be pricy. One advice that I would give to Nomiya is that they should make their ramen bigger because it seemed pretty small for a bowl that's almost $20.00. I honestly finished it quickly and wasn't as full as I'd thought I be from a bowl of ramen. As for the service, they were sufficient and good to my friends and I. The decor was really Japanese street inspired, which was very trendy and aesthetic! I wish I had taken photos of the place, but I guess everyone can see it from other photos too. Aside from the sizing issue, Nomiya is a good ramen spot to come to from time to time if you have enough in the budget.

Checking out ramen places is certainly one of my main objectives when I go to a city I've not previously visited, and Nomiya made the list. Situated in a nice neighbourhood with bars and other places nearby, this is one which has pretty decent ramen. 👌 I had a very warm welcome, and the service was excellent, as noted below. Starting, they serve their edamame cooked and then chilled with a citrus feeling light dressing. For me personally, I prefer warm with either soy sauce or seaweed. The buns were good, and the pickles home made, which was great. Some juices from the pickles made the bottom of the well prepared buns a little bit soggy. The ramen - I went for the kuro with black garlic. Broth and garlic were good. The pork was very good and soft. They served with sweetcorn that was chilled and cooled the broth, which was not hot enough then moving forward for me, but this may be a local thing. The chilli oil was not as one would expect, that being slick and oily, and was more of a siracha style but tasty and homemade and great the bottom. Service was great, in fact faultless, to be fair, and this was something that one ought to take into account, though, and there was a good atmosphere overall. This is worth a visit and a good local place. You're supporting the right sort of restaurant. They make everything just about right, but just a touch more care is needed in my view.

8 months ago when they 1st opened, the place legit smelled like dog. Sine then the smell is gone. I think it used to be a grooming place or something before but I'm not completely sure. I have always enjoyed the ramen but after today I will not be returning. I normally order the GEKI-KARA but 1/2 spicy. It's never been a problem and has always been delicious. Today however when I ordered it, I think the cooked just forgot that it was 1/2 spicy and made it with the normal amount of spice. I wasn't expecting it so my first sip caused me to cough really bad and my eyes to water. It was clear that it was way too spicy. I wasn't upset about at all, I just told the waitress that it was way too spicy. How they decided to react it was will cause me to not return. They could have simply just made the soup over. Problem solved. No, they told me the only thing they can do is give me more broth. I said ok but in the back of my mind, I'm thinking what will more broth do. Nevertheless I added more broth and it was still very spicy. All of my lips were burning. They said why don't you put your noodles in the new broth. I'm not about to do all that. Why wouldn't they just make the soup over for me?? I manage a Starbucks and even though I wasn't dressed like it , customer service is what I focus on. If a customer is dissatisfied with their coffee, I make them a new one, as they should have made me a new soup. They get an F for the lack of caring and service. I'm sure it's due to the way that I looked today but being in management for so long, I have learned to never judge a book...

Update- After going back they fixed most of the issues stated in my original post. I ordered the same thing, and the broth was now savory and balanced. It was actually perfectly spicy (what you would expect from something labeled as actually spicy) while it wasn't very spicy at all last time (mostly sweet like a dessert). They also seem to allow containers for the leftovers as well. It is also important to know my review was from opening day. I'm very happy they listened to me and others with similar recommendations. Superb ramen with the changes.

Original- Great spot. Ramen was interesting and all the add-ins were awesome. The pork was delicious, the seaweed added to the broth, eggs were amazing, noodles were good, they had decent heat, but the broth was overly sweet. The balance due to total the sweetness of the broth threw it off. I definitely think/prefer the broth to be more savory than sweet, yet this was not the case. I'm no chef, but I think if the cooking staff sees this, they should consider cutting back on whatever is making the broth that sweet. If the sweetness was cut down, it'd be a much better bowl of ramen. Also I understand leftover ramen won't be as good, but if we have a decent amount left over, and I get hungry like in an hour or two to be able to finish what I ordered. I'd prefer to have an option to take it out. People are aware leftovers aren't as good as fresh ramen, yet when you pay $13 a bowl and have a good amount leftover, an option like that...
