YogaSix New Providence — Local services in New Providence

I received constant calls and text messages after liking their profile on IG. I ensured Ginger that I would eventually get to a free class after my boards. The calls and texts continued. I finally got around to scheduling a free class only to find a very tiny space and a changing area with zero privacy. As a night shift worker with a very busy schedule usually coming from work, a private changing area would've been ideal. It didn't help that I was the only black or brown woman in a class of almost 30 people. The instructor was noticeably uncomfortable about her song choices and kept adjusting the music which only made things more awkward than the direct stares from the moment I entered the facility. I was polite but crystal clear with Ginger about not returning or joining after she inquired as to when Id be back. Unfortunately that has not deterred the organization from numerous attempts to charge my card (required to book the free class) $176 for a monthly membership I was NEVER interested in. I informed my bank and had any future efforts to charge my card for services not rendered blocked. Yoga is cathartic and very much a wholesome experience. I can't say enough good things about YogaSix New Providence! The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and truly passionate about what they do. Each class is thoughtfully designed, and the guidance provided helps practitioners of all levels get the most out of every session. They really take the time to ensure everyone feels comfortable and confident in their practice, offering modifications and encouragement every step of the way.

these chains are doing the true meaning behind Yoga and most importantly the culture such a disservice. This chain has no true intention to learn what yoga is. You will always see Western “takes” of yoga take over instead of focusing on the actual practice. You will not find an actual person of culture/color who truly practices this at its core rather than to be trendy in this place, it’s all Americans. I wish there were more authentic places nearby but sadly the YogaSix/Club Pilates/soul cycle business is thriving in this area and the bored and lovely housewives will eat it up everytime.
