Harlee’s Tap and Grille — Restaurant in New Providence

Went with a friend tonight for a couple of drinks. We had a couple of Jacks on the rocks. In the menu the drinks were listed under bourbon $7 each. (No other price involving JDs in cocktails) The time to pay a bill - Steve shows up with the bill stating that the JD are $9 each. Here is the conversation: Me: "Hey, I believe the price is listed at $7." Steve: "yeah, that's for the mixer" Me: " Mixer?! Like Coke and bourbon?" Steve: " Yes, you've ordered Jack Daniels on the rocks" Me: "Yes, as stated on your list. Are you charging me more for the ice?" Steve: " No, it's just more because it's not a mixer." Me: " Where does it say it's a mixer. It's listed as bourbon straight drink?" Steve: being quiet because he doesn't have an answer. Now, we are leaving the bar. As I say bye to Steve, another guy bids us a good night. He seems sincerely genuine, which makes me assume he's an owner or a manager. I decide to approach him Same question .... About the price. He says: "I am sorry. We can adjust that. I say: " Sure, you don't have to if that's your price for the drink. It just needs to be stated clearly because none of your prices are listed as cocktails or mixers, just as straight drinks" (Then he says something that just makes me cringe) "I apologise, the prices are changing so fast that I can't keep up with the menus" Yes, that's what he said! We dined here on a Saturday evening and it was absolutely wonderful.

We sat outside and all of our food was amazing. We ordered the Ahi Tuna Bites, Fried Calamari, & The Lamb Chop entree to split. The only criticism I have is that the Lamb Chops were slightly over cooked. Taste was great, Calamari was cooked perfect, & do yourself a favor and order the Ahi Tuna Bites as an appetizer if you come here. They MELT in your mouth. One of my favorite dishes I’ve ever had.

The only reason we knocked off a star is because the hostess sat us, took our drink order & appetizer order, then completely disappeared. We sat for about 25 minutes before flagging down another server. We had to flag down multiple other servers to request refills and to order our entree & dessert ( Caramel Whiskey Milkshake ) which I hate having to do. I could absolutely understand the hostess getting busy but wish she would’ve asked a server to take over our table.

Came in right after they opened. They told us to to sit anywhere we wanted. Unfortunately all the tables were dirty. The plexi glass dividers had hand prints all over them. After they cleaned the table and we sat down the wood divider in front of the windows were also covered with food debris and stains. The service was sub par and the food was barely edible. We got the personal pizza for our son that came in a frozen crust and was barley cooked. No flavor. We got garlic Parmesan wings that were sitting in a pool of oil. I ordered a burger that had “bacon jam” and caramelized onions that was a complete mess, greasy and flavorless. Came with a tomato slice that looked like it was cut and sat in the fridge for two days and some limp pickle chips. The atmosphere looks really nice but unfortunately the food and service and sorely lacking. ...
