Two years ago my 10-year-old Maltese was diagnosed with a grade 4 heart murmur. Within 6 months, a different vet recommended we start her on 3 typical medications for dog heart murmurs because she was coughing, after taking x-rays and said it was more like at 5 (out of 6)--subjective, of course. We went to a third vet, who's office was so incompetent that they left her without one of the medications for a weekend.
