Hmm.. not sure why the reviews are low for this place. I'm reviewing as an asian guy with short hair and 80/20 part. There is one thing this haircut place does for me that I've not seen anywhere and really compelled me to write this review.
First, I live in Jersey now and haircuts there in non asian barber shops are just eh. It gets the job done and $25-$35 for a basic cut with no wash and no fade. I do like that they put on sanitary sprays and a paper neck thing before the put on the cape. I feel like that helps keep small hair from getting on my clothes and pricking my neck. It's especially annoying on black fleeces where it's impossible to find and annoys me to no end that I go to get haircuts in t-shirts and go home right after for a shower.
However, this place, for $25 washes your hair AND washes your hair again AFTER the cut! I got home last night, took a shower just in case, because God forbid it gets on my pillow, and it was clean. Not spec of hair at all. I looked hard for it. Call me impressed... so impressed that I wanted to write this review right then and their but couldn't for obvious reasons and forgot about it. This is the thing no other place I've gone to has ever done. 10/10.
Now for the cut itself. It was great. The tall gentleman at the first chair on the left right when you walk in is a real pro. He uses a wireless gold buzzer and a gold plated comb. I don't care much that it was gold plated but I'm sure he enjoys using it. What I did care was the sharpness of his tools. It cuts my hair like butter and he cut it with a comb and buzzer, non of the guides. I didn't ask for a fade but he gave me a fade and while it was cold for me walking around the rest of the day and it will grow back in a day or two, he did a great job. My wife, who always trashes the barbers skills on my previous cuts, was actually impressed, aside from it being too short on the sides and back.
I would come back here every time if I don't live in Jersey. Oh and this was not my first time. I had my wedding haircut here and also a few other times. It's pretty consistent so 10/10.
--- Edit --- Oh also, you have a lower your expectations a bit when it comes to service. Like Chinese restaurants, you can't expect amazing service. They might have to jump on a call while giving you a hair wash or something but for the price and the other services,...
Read moreI like this place and I’m usually pretty content with the service. I travel all the way from the Bronx for a haircut. Today I got a different service. I wanted to lighten my hair, my hair is really short. I was given a price and when the service was complete supposedly, they charged me a different price and doubled it. My roots are still black and my hair wasn’t even toned after bleaching. My hair is dry and blotchy. When I asked why they were charging so much, they claimed they did a double process, which was not true. They also need to stop using the language barrier as an excuse to get away with not discussing the problem with the client and finding a solution. Their answer was next time. There will not be a next time. I’m very disappointed and feel like I got swindled. I don’t mind paying the price if the job is done right and I don’t have go home and fix after. I have no issue with my haircut, but it wasn’t worth $180, a trip to Brooklyn and being left with the feeling of disappointment. ...
Read moreMy girlfriend is still so mad after 5 months her hair never turned grey. They make the non educated and harsh hair washing ladies to cover for them when it’ gets busy. It’s fine if they are gentle and know how to dye/do hair. But it was the worst experience she have and spent over 250$ plus tips. Definitely very upsetting and waste of 7 hours sitting for a brown color dye compare to the grey she...
