I cannot express just how happy I am with Alba!!! My Jacquemus dress had been lost for 3 weeks and I had given up hope that it would ever be found. This sounds so dramatic, but I cried for days- I am someone very passionate about fashion (bought the matching bag and shoes from the same collection) so I was heartbroken. However, Lumi was so sincerely apologetic. Several days ago, he called asking for me to come by so he could pay me (he even agreed to pay the full price of the dress!), and we decided to wait one more week to see if the dress would show up. The week prior, he had reached out to all the customers who received deliveries in the last couple weeks and was in touch with all the doormen in the area. I was fairly certain it was lost at this point, but Lumi texted me today that someone had returned the dress!! I was beyond floored and when I went to pick it up, Lumi was so so sweet, humble, and apologetic, and he even refused to charge me! It was an unfortunate situation for all parties, but Lumi went above and beyond to make amends. I am truly grateful and cannot praise Alba enough for all they have done to make the situation right. Lumi is so genuinely passionate about what he does and I'm tankful I lost my dress here and not at any other dry cleaner!
My actual dress looks flawless- it is white linen and although I had worn it twice, I had some sweat stains (thank you NY summer). There's no trace of them and could not be more pleased with the care they took!
Overall, I would highly recommend Alba. Even after this bit of a fiasco, I would trust Lumi with my most precious pieces!
Previously, I had reviewed negatively because I had dropped off 1 dress and never received it after several weeks. We liked the business owner, Lumi, he seemed like a nice guy and so and we never complained about anything. As it is a community small business we would stop by to say hello, offer sweets and go. The red flag was when I sent a jacket for alterations and it came completely unfit and lost its shape. I was courtious and simply asked it to be corrected. It took 3 weeks and a few stops for me to get it back, still not fitting so I asked for the jacket to be put back to its original shape, but even then, the jacket never returned to its original state. I told myself that I will look for another tailor but will keep my dry cleaning with Alba. Then I sent my fabulous cream linen curtains for spring cleaning, they were returned with 3 weeks delay. They were shrank, the sewing undone and were poorly ironed. I returned them and nicely asked him to fix it, explained that these are expensive tailor made curtains. Alba cleaners took two months and half to return the curtains simply because he did not have the time to take care of it. We kept on going every week and every time, the owner will bow in apologies giving BS excuses. I still did not open the curtains and keep my fingers crossed. Total disrespect for clients, apologizing while he only started working on the curtains few days ago. Alba took business that they could not handle, outsourced it and did not take proper action to correct their error. The first 2 times I went to Alba, he was so nice to me as was a new customer and the experiences were fine. But after that, I don't know if they just got too busy post Covid or if he's always over promised dates, but l've had the most stressful, unpleasant experiences and had to chase him on every single cleaning job since. Needless to say I will NEVER go back there. On at least 3 occasions I had to hound him 4 or 5 times over 2 days to get my clothing back, when they were past due. I needed these clothes for important trips and events. He didn't care and made me feel like I was in the wrong for expecting my clothes to be ready when he said they would be. How entirely stressful for a customer. This is not what a good dry cleaning service experience should feel like. Also if you complain about anything he takes everything personally and then turns on you and treats you horribly. BEWARE if you need a reliable cleaner that delivers your clothes on-time, when promised. A note on quality - I dropped off an expensive suede skirt to get cleaned and I got it back looking worse, more dirty and an entirely different shade of color. It looked like someone wore the skirt again and soiled it. His excuse was that he had to outsource it bc he didn't specialize in suede. Then don't accept the job and ruin someone's nice clothes!!!
