Couldn’t possibly write a better review for Coiffeur! There are several things to praise here. First of all, as a male identifying with longer hair it is virtually impossible to find a barber that knows how to properly shape, layer, and trim. Going to college In Lower Manhattan at Pace University I would find myself having to travel to Brooklyn for a decent enough cut - that is until my roommate recommended Daniel at Coiffeur. It was directly around the corner from Pace and situated in a great quiet location right by world trade. As if convenience wasn’t enough the service I was provided was EXCELLENT. Not only do they offer you coffee, tea, juice and snacks as you peruse the various literary options upon waiting to be serviced, but they will then wash, condition, and massage your scalp under warm water for a solid 10 minutes before the cut, this is something I’ve never experienced from Barbershops but a customary service for salons that I find extremely relaxing and pleasurable. By this point in my first experience I was almost already sold - was just waiting to if “Daniel” was able to get the cut right, and he went above and beyond. He’s a great conversation, with lots of knowledge on the world and is always willing to share and make you feel comfortable as he works. He is immaculate at replicating desired haircuts from images and several times he has come through in the clutch to completely change my look around regardless of length or the task. Simply put he understands mens hair and how to properly cut it, both skin fades and longer length layering. We’ve shared a cigarette on several occasions, exchanged numbers, and in the summer he hits me up to go fishing in my hometown of Long Island. He’s a really great dude and has been available in a pinch to help me when I have “emergency” cuts needed before a gig. I’ve since been using Coiffeur and Daniel for the last five years. The one and only time he was on vacation and wasn’t available when I booked a major acting gig that required my haircut to be fixed he FaceTimed me, assessed what needed to be done to repair the damaged hair and look tv ready, then recommended I go to a woman who has never cut my hair at the salon before, Motoyo. And again, she absolutely came through and went above and beyond. She was just as knowledgeable and friendly as Daniel - and she gave me a perfect cut that I was happy to take on set - to which I received various compliments and an additional photo shoot request. If you’ve made it this far, it’s safe to say that I couldn’t possibly recommend a better place to get your hair done with people who care. They have obviously found their position as my #1 and only place to get my haircut and when I move out of NYC I am certain I will still travel back for bi monthly cuts - THATS HOW GOOD THEY ARE. Nothing but love for the staff and I hope this reviews helps other seeking similar barbers to try them out - if not I’m unclear what else you would need to hear to be sold. Never thought of barbers as life changing - until you meet that one that really understands it. I no longer live with my old roommates, but I am still tickled on occasion when I enter for a cut and see either one of them in Daniels chair still going strong as we did five years ago - proof that I am not the only one to feel this way. Run, fly, jump, drive , bike - I don’t care really care how you get there, just GO...
Read moreI asked for ash blonde hair. I left with an orange head. Not once but twice since I went back hoping the would fix it. My only needed a partial highlights to cover minimal roots. Came home with roots but instead of my color ask and fresh hair with baby lights I instead came home with big orange blotches all over the top of my head. My color that was there totally dulled down by two toners thrown over it that dulled it down completely . I paid almost 200 dollars to leave and go home crying. Still looking at this color in the mirror and wanting to cry. I just had a baby and needed a freshen up to feel a little like me. I looked much better before. I really wouldn’t recommend. This brassy tone will also take a long time to grow out. If I could give minus stars I would but staff were friendly and so I wouldn’t...
Read moreWonderful people (clear talent) but they lied to me about services. Quoted 160 over the phone go go 1 shade lighter. Literally one shade.
They ended up charging me about $480 with tip to lighten my hair one shade because they added on services that I never asked for - like olaplex.
Whether or not I needed it, they should have asked me if it was OK to proceed with the use of it before charging me.
While my hair is very dark and the lightning process took more time, I have lightened my hair from a box of Feria on my own in about 15 minutes. And obviously, that's not comparable but sitting there for five hours to come out with very similar hair (friends couldn't even tell I dyed it!) just seemed absolutely ridiculous to me. They seemed very sneaky about the...
