Honestly....I have very mixed feelings about this place. Part of me really liked it, but the other part just wasn't very pleased. My wife and I were intrigued about this place once we saw it on Food Network, but it just didn't deliver.
My wife and I got the pisillo on white bread, and certain ingredients from the sandwich were very good! We really liked the bread, cheese, balsamic dressing and peppers. But I wasn't very pleased by the meats. Something was just...off.....about the meats. I also felt the sandwich just didn't vibe. Most of the ingredients were delicious individually, but just didn't seem to go together very well. This could have been due to all the ingredients being drastically different temperatures. But, they did have a good variety of sandwiches, and based on the ingredients I liked, I'm sure I would have enjoyed another sandwich more. It was also WAAAY overpriced!
The service was great! The cashier was very nice and made sure I was taken care of. And though the place was packed, they were very quick and obviously had a great system going for making sure sandwiches were made in a timely manner.
The restaurant was Sketchville and the mayor was Sketchy McSketcherson! Let's just say I almost said "no" just by walking in. It was very outdated and didn't look the cleanest. Just go....you'll know what I mean. It's also located in such a weird spot, almost as if someone saw a closet and said let's make this a restaurant.
Overall, Pisillo was just okay. I am sure if I had another sandwich, I may have liked it more, but I didn't like the experience I had enough to...

Go for a sandwich and know you will be able to eat leftovers!
So I will start with this, if you are a vegetarian, you an eat here and Pisillo DOES NOT SKIMP on anything unlike other places with veggie hoagies and cheese. Now, as an Italian Chica, this was my jam. Stacked and large. Fresh ingredients and just plain good.
The only real negative is that there are really only 4 tables in there, which if they were busy, would not be a good thing, but we were there after lunch rush so we got seats!
The owner is wonderful and helpful. Bread is as fresh as could be with a good exterior crunch and then the ingredients inside the bread take care of the rest!
The Ancona is as good on Day 1 as it is on Day3! There are 35+ sandwich options or you can make your own.
It's CASH ONLY but there is also an ATM right inside. 4 sandwiches + 4 cans of soda were about $75 -
Everyone was so stuffed and NONE of us, even the biggest foodie in our group could finish their sandwich!
So rather than fried garbage or a mini sandwich that will cost you the same, this FIDI (Nassau St) sandwich shop is the winner! Get it...
Read morePisillo is definitely one of my favorite sandwiches in the city and I have been coming here for ~ 5 years. I love taking visitors to NY here too. I will have to say that the Parma with the smoked mozzarella is probably my favorite but I’ve really experienced not a single miss here. The staff are always lovely and get sandwiches out efficiently! Also, they’re open reasonably late for a sandwich shop that’s not Subway or a deli (8pm) so I do love being able to swing by after work. Tips: 1. Some of the standard bread can be a little bit tough to chew (or maybe I’m just a weak sandwich eater and I get the wheat bread) but upgrading to the foccacia is a much softer and a bit lighter bread and the fillings have an easier time staying in the sandwich. 2: bring a friend to split with or plan to save half as these are super hefty as many people have said in the comments. I’ve had these sandwiches keep in the fridge overnight with no issue. 3: try the special if they have one!...
