Visited this café for the first time, and the experience left me with mixed feelings. I asked for a macchiato, and the barista asked if I had come from Starbucks. I thought he meant it in terms of drink size, so I said yes. Later, I realized it was tied to frustration...apparently, people from the Starbucks next door were coming over just to use the restroom... I hadn't known Starbucks wasn't nearby. I even commented, “Well, that’s more business for you,” trying to offer a positive spin. But he replied that the people in line weren’t buying anything.
Fair enough, but if that’s the issue, then those who do purchase something should be given priority. I was a paying customer, along with my friend, and we waited in a line that snaked through the store, only to eventually give up and leave. But he was alone so I completely understand.
I ordered a latte instead of the macchiato, and while it was drinkable, it wasn’t made with love. The ambiance was nice, but the overall energy felt off. What really stood out was when another woman came in behind me and ordered, and when she said she hadn’t come from Starbucks, he smiled and said, “Well, in that case, I’m really glad you’re here.” That felt passive-aggressive and unnecessary. Customers shouldn't feel judged or dismissed. My bad for misunderstanding the question..I guess.
Would I come back? Probably not. Maybe for the ambiance, but certainly not for the...
Read moreI chose this cafe since it's just a few blocks away from my home, but my satisfaction dipped with the visit today. I was able to tolerate the cold inside the cafe for weeks, but as the weather got cooler I definitely needed to ask to turn off the A/C. When I came yesterday, the male staff didn't hesitate to turn it off immediately, but today, the female staff declined to do so.
With this experience, I am willing to outline some of my dissatisfaction. Even though their coffee prices are a dollar cheaper than Starbucks, I don't like that they don't have a loyalty system where there a points for every visit. It was $4.50 for a decaf ice latte and around $3 for a pastry, and plus tax would be just over $8 in total.
I am extremely bothered by how their service attitude is not consistent and I am not sure if this is the work standard here in the US, but I don't like the fact that the staffs talk about their own things like their ex and don't even have eye contact with the customers and don't tend to be attentive.
I was probably in the cafe for a little more than 10 times, but I believe I am not going to be the repeating...
Read moreFirst time I try this coffee shop and I love it!
Inside it's nice, very clean and pretty big compared to other coffee shops in the area. The atmosphere makes me think of a college town coffee shop (perhaps because Pace University is near by and there are a lot of students here), which is a plus for me.
There are so many pros in this coffee shop: 1: finally, a coffee shop in FiDi that closes at 9pm everyday! Most of the coffee shops in this area close between 4-5pm. Too early! 2: they have the best chai latte I have had in a while. Definitely, the best in the area. Music is a bit loud, but not too loud (finally, I was able to read and study in a coffee shop). Last, but not least, a coffee shop with outlets to charge my computer! It's impossible to find coffee shops with outlets in all FiDi!
I will absolutely come...
