Avenue Nails — Local services in New York

Came in to get my nails done for a wedding. Recently had a manicure so I just needed a color change. Came in with regular polish decided to go with gel. They quote me $25. I sit down show the girl the picture of the Matte black French design and say I want a little flare on two ring fingers. The nails started getting messed up from the beginning because the light wasn’t strong enough so she had to start over about half the nails and they had to use a stronger light. I let her pick a design for the ring fingers, we go with black gems. At no point is anyone telling me any cost changes. I notice the two ring finger designs should match but aren’t the arch and placement of the gems is totally different but should be identical. I tell the lady and she moves the gems a little and tells me to put my hand under the light. When I pull it out to compare the two they’re so different I can’t stand to look at them. I’m already mad that they’re effed up and then they tell me the cost is now $40 (not to mention the $3 something credit card fee). My color change went from $25 to $40 with no advance warning. Aside from coming back tomorrow to have the nail fixed I will never come here again. I was so mad I couldn’t even speak on my way out nor could I be bothered to have the fix done at this time cuz I told the girl it was off and she basically ignored me. Staff polite and pleasant but kind of suspicious that they only accept cash and the quoted price was almost half the price I ended up paying for. I needed my nails done for an event in a pinch and they were able to accomodate me on a very busy day for them, but the lady seemed to be in a rush and overdrilled my natural nails causing me nail pain 3 days after they were done and caused extreme difficulty and pain removing them after 2 weeks (a 6 hours and counting process..) She also missed some spots with nail polish which I didn't fight considering how busy they were and how I needed to leave ASAP but I was hoping they'd have considered the sloppiness when giving me the price because I feel as though I overpaid for what could have been...

Been going to Alex for years it’s a small family owned nail salon. It would be wise to come early better yet make an appointment. It can be standing room only that’s how popular they are. Alex and Cindy makes sure everyone has a good experience. They’re professional and creative. The atmosphere is very laid back and extremely down to earth so if your looking for luxurious spar treatment look elsewhere but if your looking for great results look no further. The banter between the crew and customers will often have you in stitches laughing. The prices are decent. Cindy lashes are unmatched. Erica’s pedicures are the best.
