Mary African Hair Braiding and Extensions — Local services in New York

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had getting my hair done. Not only was it awkward, but the entire time, they talked crap about the customers or anyone in their language.I called ahead to make sure everything was fine. I asked for 350 boho knotless braids, and they told me it would be $240 over the phone. When I got there, I confirmed the hair color and the price, but suddenly, they changed the price from $240 to $360! Actual insanity. I had to call them out on it, and they let me do it for $260… crazy. As for the color, they straight-up gave me red. This was my first time trying color, and I asked if it was the right shade because it didn’t look right to me. I truly hate confrontation, so I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it but maybe I should have. It wasn’t what I was expecting, and I was very unsatisfied with the color. I’m not tender-headed at all, but my goodness, their hands were so heavy and rough it hurt so much! They even left in the middle of doing my hair to go eat, then came back, scratching the lower parts of their body and touching my hair again. They really played in my face. Not professional at all. I also asked if they accepted Apple Pay, and they told me they took Zelle, which was perfect since I use Zelle. So I went expecting to pay that way, but then they asked me to use the ATM instead. First time I came to the new location and had the worst experience I’ve ever had with these people. I asked for a specific hairstyle and was not given that. She put something completely different in my hair and it also looked like my hair was braided for days instead of being fresh braids. I have been going to the same person for over 10 years, her excuse is that’s not the regular hairstyle I usually get, is what she told the other braiders when I came back after noticing. I was asked if I wanted to wait until she was done with her customer or let someone else braid it. I was in a hurry so I let someone else braid it. Both of the new Africans were looking at me very nasty to the point I can feel the energy as a highly sensitive person/empath. Then the girl that was taking the braids out to do them correctly acted like she didn’t even want to touch my hair. That behavior is absolutely disgusting especially when I was one of the first people that came to this shop when it first opened. I will never come back to this place. Do not waste...
