I’m missing the Brooklyn Museum right now. The Brooklyn Museum is easily one of my favorite places to go in New York City on any day, let alone when they’re having a major installation. The exhibits, the events (1st Saturdays!) the culture, and even the space enrich my soul.
Also expertly curated is the Brooklyn Museum Shop. Their selection of survey books (I picked up a book of Basquiat’s art when I was last there), gifts, and keepsakes reflect the best of what the museum has had to offer over time. Whoever is managing it thoughtfully caters to the connoisseurs, the families with children, the educators, the playful sort, the locals as well as tourists, the hip and the neophyte. And that inclusive, you’re-welcome-we-got-you flavor, that right there, is the spirit of Brooklyn.
The staff all around is warm, helpful, and knowledgeable. The shop is merchandised with an eye toward attractive detail and ease for the customer, even when they moved it to the front of the pavilion and lobby, which is a great spot for it. The Brooklyn Museum...
Read moreThis museum used to have a wonderful gift ship several year ago, before it was moved out into the atrium. Once it moved and the space smaller, the items in the gift became limited, niche, and very expensive. Love the support for Brooklyn goods and merchandise, but miss the keychains and magnets etc with the Museum logo. Now that the shop has moved back into a larger space (albeit maybe temporarily) I’m hopeful to see more of the family-friendly and affordable...
Read moreI ordered the Kaws Tide poster and received it damaged, while they are currently sold out, they refunded me, but now I'm without a poster to actually frame and hang, while resales of these posters are already in the hundreds of dollars range. Shopify needs to pack these things better and label them fragile/do not bend if they're charging $18 for domestic shipping. It's a waste of time, resources, and dope artwork. Super disappointed in this...
