I've made a point to visit Natural Blend every time I've been in the neighborhood for the past two years. This is a great place for lunch or a quick snack, but most people seem to take their order to go due to the small size of the place and the limited seating. What Natural Blend lacks in size it more than makes up with flavors on its comprehensive daily menu of vegan Caribbean delights, from hearty baked goods to delectable fresh juices to (my all-time favorite) barbecue spare ribs made with soy protein. I don't know who owns it, but this place gives one the impression of a real "Mom and Pop" shop. The staff is knowledgeable and quick to serve the line of guests that usually stretches out onto the sidewalk, but they don't seem to say anything on the rare occasion when a patron particularly eager for plant-based food skips the queued customers. In spite of all this, Natural Blend is the kind of place that I will always go to taste something that is all at once delicious, comforting,...
Read moreI honestly really loved this place but after today I will not be coming back. I’ve been to three of their locations multiple times and everytime I order the same thing, jerk chicken panini. I was really confused today because it came with ketchup and spicy mayo, this is the first time this has ever been on my order. I myself work in food service I know how annoying it is when someone orders something they clearly asked for and you go through all the trouble to make it and then they say it’s incorrect, but I literally have never gotten a jerk chicken panini like this. it usually just has vegan mayo, lettuce and avocado. I always tip and politely tried expressing that to the worker but they were not hearing me out and didn’t even try to help me out whatsoever or offer to remake it for me. I’ve been sick for the past couple of days and wanted to treat myself to lunch today so I was really excited but now I’m just really disappointed and it just really sucked paying for something that...
Read moreI am convinced that Natural Blend is the friendliest place in Brooklyn. I’ve been to 3 of the 4 locations and each time has always been a positive experience. They really live their ethos of “crafting authentic food infused with love, goodness, and nothing else at this place.”
This is for the Prospect Heights location because it’s the one I regularly go to. I love their patties, especially the callaloo; the lentils and the peas are a close second. Their lunch and dinner plates are tasty; I’ve tried the pepper steak and the jerk chicken. The medium size is a good portion and will more than feed you. Also don’t miss out on their bread and pastries. There’s much more to explore here—the smoothies, the stews, the curry chik’n, for my Caribbean cravings.
My only complaint is that Natural Blend uses plastic bags and utensils. Just make sure to request without and bring...
