This is really more of a takeout. I thought it would be a bigger place to eat but it's not. There's two tables for 2, and three bar stools by the window. It's not good for me to sit on stools so I had to ask someone at a table if I could sit with them. I had the "classic sandwich," the classic banh mi. It was okay. If I had never eaten a banh mi in my life I would say it was great. The quality of bread could've been better. The filling could've been more. There could've been more pate. I will, however, say that for the area, I was very happy with the price and the service. I came to the area with the intention of having some lunch before going to the museum. It saved me money to have lunch here, rather than pay double the price in the museum. Counter person was very helpful in helping me pick a drink without sugar in it, the green tea. They brought my food to my table when they didn't have to. No attitudes from anyone. Would I come back here again? If I'm in the area, yes. I will also say that I observed that they were very quick with making orders for everyone that was dining in...
Read moreI actually really like this spot- the food is good, service is fast, prices are reasonable, the location is good.
The reason I am giving one star is because, for whatever reason, they never make my sandwich actually spicy. Every time I ask, I expect it to be the 🌶️🌶️🌶️ level as indicated on the menu, and every single time it is milder than a cup of milk. Today I looked at the person taking my order in the eyes and asked “can I please ACTUALLY have it spicy?” to which they replied “yes,” and my sandwich came with half a sliver of jalapeño for the entire thing, and mayo milder than dew drops on a rose.
If the restaurant replies to this review and explains why they cannot make a spicy sandwich, and agrees to actually season my food as I ask, and to match the level advertised on the menu, I will update to five stars.
UPDATED: thank you to Banh Mi Place for replying. Unfortunately, I went today and asked for a spicy sandwich, and it was still not spicy. See second photo with same half a jalapeño...
Read moreThis review is all about the PHO. I should have stayed away when I read they use a chicken broth for all of their pho. My main complaints was the noodles, the dried up pieces of already cooked beef round and the fact they "dressed" my soup for me. The noodles was thick and had a weird consistency. Normally the cilantro, sliced scallions. Sliced red onions and basil leaves are on the side for the diner to jazz up as they see fit. I opened my broth and there was cilantro, thick cut scallions and white onions already in there floating. The meat so dry, it didn't get a chance to soak up any of the flavors of the broth because they cooked the hell out of it. Man I was upset. The broth itself didn't taste bad but still if your going to branch out from sandwiches make sure you do it right. Maybe I'll be back for a sandwich maybe not but do yourself a favor and stay away...
