City Fresh Market — Local services in New York

I gave 1 star for the store being very clean. Another 1 star given for decent selection and being well stocked. Now, I deducted stars for being over priced, inconsistent prices on the gelato, and this one instance I found very questionable. I had gone to pay for sushi, a bottled drink, and some fruit at the register by the prepared hot foods. The young woman who rang me up saw I only placed those three items on the counter. I NEVER spoke to her yet she placed a slice of cake with my items. I thought it was for another customer. I asked for my receipt as I put MY items in my bag. The total seemed off so I checked and noticed she charged me for the cake. I took the cake instead of asking her to do the transaction over because I needed to go. I'm a regular customer. At least once a week I visit. It's my go to market. There was never any problems until your workers decides to put on a whole bottle of cologne or perfume to work. The smell was so strong and pungent, my mouth smelled like it and everywhere I walked smelled like that scent. This isn't Macy's beauty dept, why do u need to smell so strong at all?? It really distracted me from my food shopping bc of the strong smell. Tell your workers to stop that. It's about customer satisfaction and self awareness.

Also, why are Non-Animal Service Dogs allowed in the market? You have owners who don't know how to control their dogs and are in the way. Is that really sanitary? They could be peeing on the produce on the ground for all we know. At least service dogs are professionally trained and have a purpose for...

I was excited that this was opening where the old Rite Aid used to be, very close to my apartment. Unfortunately, I quickly realized how overpriced everything is here. I'm also convinced that they intentionally don't label items so that you don't know what the price is. It takes me much longer to shop here than other grocery stores because the pricing is so unclear. I am constantly looking to find a barcode scanner to check prices because I don't trust the stickers/because things have no price at all. Better walking to a different grocery store in the neighborhood. I have also noticed far less people shopping here since the opening, perhaps because we've all realized how criminally overpriced...
