Community Green Market — Local services in New York

This is my favorite Market ever! I have a supermarket literally around the corner from my house but I will walk a half a mile to get to this one! I almost don't want to write this review because this place is a small gem! They have an amazing selection of different things that normally people in the Bronx would have to go to Whole Foods to get? In their prices are absolutely phenomenal! Their fish market is absolutely great Very Fresh and great selection! The fish butchers are so nice and so professional and they know their fish! Trust me from the outside this just looks like a fruit market but it's so much more! The owner it's so helpful when you're looking for different and exotic spices and items for your recipe! That cashier girls at the front are always nice and always smiling never attitude ever! I know giving anything five stars is rare but I'm a foodie and when I'm tackling a recipe I always come to the community Green Market cuz chances are they will have the ingredients or better yet the owner will help you with a substitute love love...

I'm changing my 4-star rating to a 1-star because I was offended by the overnight cashier last night. When I asked him if they had Nutella, he replied that they only had the small ones. So, I asked him where they were. He pointed into thin air. I have a disability which effects my visual perception, & I'm often not able to pick out items at a distance if they're surrounded by other things. So, i asked him where they were, & he said, "Open your eyes! They're right there!" and pointed again to the air. When I finally found them, I realized that he was referring to the snack pack Nutella with the stick to dip, above the coffee maker & to the side of the registers. If he either was more specific about the location or moved over behind the register so he could point to the location, I would've found them. But since he decided to be a jerk, he continued insulting me & pointing into thin air. I had other things to buy, but I decided not to give them the sale since I don't like...

On January 5, 2025 I bought some peppers. Later on that afternoon when I go to cook, 2 of the 4 peppers I bought were spoiled. One was even molded and fuzzy inside. I've lived in this area for over 54 years and can't remember when I started buying produce here but I can say it is sad how the quality has changed. A few months back I bought a pepper and there was a worm inside. Didn't write about it then because I thought maybe a one time thing but now 2 of the peppers were bad and at $4.99 lb. Smh. I don't see myself ever going back. To those who choose to frequent this store, just be aware that the produce might look good from the outside but God only knows what the inside looks like. If anyone has recommendations of a local store that has good, fresh produce I would appreciate...
