This CTown is arguably the most overpriced supermarket within a 5 mile radius and I would be willing to bet money on it. I genuinely believe they do it because the transplants in the area don’t know any better and there aren’t many alternatives in the near vicinity. Just yesterday, I stopped by in an attempt to buy some meat, even though I knew better. The only other option was walking all the way to the junction but I didn’t want to deal with the distance. The last time I was there was months ago to get some last-minute ingredients for a steak dinner and I ended up spending over $20 on a pack of super thin shell steaks because their ribeyes were $30+. To put things into perspective, I stopped by the Asian grocery store right off the train station and was able to get two packs of raspberries, two packs of strawberries, two packs of blackberries, green beans and a tub of freshly cut cantaloupe for $13. I walk into ctown and they’re selling 2 sticks of butter for the exact same price. Their rotisserie chickens are $12 and they’re the size of Cornish hens. I walked up to the deli counter and I asked for four dollars worth of Salsalito turkey, which is a pretty common thing to do instead of asking for a pound etc. In my experience, four dollars usually gets me about a 1/2 pound, if not exactly that, & what I received was less than a 1/4 pound, so you do the math. The meat section was unbelievable, as in I could not believe how expensive everything was. When there’s an actual fish market around the corner that sells fresh seafood for 1/3 of their prices, it’s crazy that they have the gall to charge $20 for a salmon fillet cut into two pieces. You can go to Aldi and get the same thing for half the price, even target is cheaper. I don’t like when stores take advantage of people and CTown is supposed to be a neighborhood...
Read moreI've been frequenting this C-Town regularly (2-3x per week) for the past 3 years and The Manager, Tanya, a Carribean (facially challenged) lady in her 50's needs some serious customer service training. Tanya is a miserable, sour faced woman who has been racially profiling me for years. I am not, nor have I ever been a thief but everytime I am at C-Town she looks me up and down, gives me evil looks and follows me around the store. Today, 9/9/23, she confirmed my suspicions, resulting in me complaining to the Co-Manager, Jeremy, who was pleasant and professional. I will no longer spend my money in an establishment that treats me this way. I will walk the extra blocks and spend my money at the Key Food on Cortelyou Rd between e. 16th...
Read moreTrust the reviews saying they sell old food!!! I bought minced beef meat here and it was black inside but red on the outside. So they use some kind of chemical because usually it turns black from oxidation. It shouldnt be turning red once its turned black. Plus the watermelon is never fresh and one of the workers offered me a fresh piece which i said ok and he told the other worker to cut the piece but he was too lazy to cut me a fresh piece talking in spanish thinking i don’t understand what they were sayin. And then proceed to say there are cut pieces already there basically the convo was going in circles telling them those piece are not fresh!!! Well you lost me as a customer today. I rather ride the train to...
