Ox Cart is one of my favorite local places. While I do think their prices are a little on the expensive side, especially considering that this is Brooklyn, their food is very good. I cannot go here without ordering the pretzels. They are soft, buttery, salty and delicious. They come with cheese and mustard dip. I also really enjoy their huge onion rings, though sometimes they are over-cooked. They have a fun selection of burgers, and my favorite is the good ol' boy (bacon and cheddar). If you like your burgers on the well done side you have to stress this as their default seems to be rare. Their lamb lasagna is also very unique, hearty, and flavorful. I have had some misses here such as the whole fish...nothing special. I had brunch here twice and again, the prices are high, but the food is good. The place has a nice atmosphere too, and if there is a wait it's never more...

Used to be a good place to go and now it is a place to be avoided. For example I ordered a takeout cheeseburger and the fish and chips and. they were both presented in a manner that you would expect in a dive bar. The bacon on the burger was not throughly cooked, the lettuce and tomatoes seem to have been at least two days old (just seemed to have been thrown), cheese was not even melted and the burger itself was placed halfway out of the bun. The fish had a batter that was twice the size of the fish and all I tasted was the batter. By the way if you complain, which I've done in the past, you will be met with indifference. My wife and I have decided to put as n X on this place which means I will no longer visit this...

Nice local restaurant. I was happy to discover this place through a family “foodie” . The burgers are really good and the grilled Brussels sprouts are amazing. Just don’t order take out, it’s terrible service. Mind you, I live literally 12 minutes away by car. I’ve order several times and each time it gets worse. Cold everything, from my favorite Brussels sprouts not only ice cold, but it was an order of leaves and 6 sprouts and the burgers were ice cold. I purposely order shortly after 5 to try to avoid this disaster but no avail. I called to let them know and was put on hold , got dead silence and then ate my even colder food. I think I’ll pass on delivery service...

THE OX ROCKS. Set on a corner of a scruffy commercial strip and a residential street of gentrifying Victorians and century-old shade trees, the Ox Cart does the chalkboard-menu and dinged-furniture thing like many other neighborhood eateries in Brooklyn. But the Ox earns its stars with its food and drink and the professionalism in place since ownership changed in 2017. The staff is mellow and attentive, the specials hearty and flavorful, and the lamb lasagna on the everyday menu worth a three-block walk any snowy night. Prices are moderate, and the televisions tuned to sports are two too many in a tight serving space. Cocktails a strong point.

Gorgeous little gastropub. We came on a hot summer’s evening, when all the long windows were wide open, giving the place an outdoor feel with a nice breeze. The non-alcoholic beverages were delicious (I had homemade ginger lemonade) and there was a really good selection of beers, wine and cocktails at decent prices. The food was all great, but the special we had – scallops with mushrooms and lemon risotto – was particularly good (one of the nicest meals I’ve had in a long time). Very friendly staff as well.
