Having seen a few comments criticizing the mosque and calling it unislamic for not allowing people to sleep inside and for having no separate area for women, I am compelled to state here that there are different schools of thought in Islam and I myself am from a certain school of thought which is firm in the belief that women should not be given separate areas within mosque nor for people to be allowed to sleep inside.
It is mentioned in hadith that mosques are built to offer five times compulsory salah and for the remembrance of Allah. But, it is also mentioned in another hadith that only a person observing aitikaf, travelling, or who us staying in the mosque for an explicit religious purpose, is allowed to eat and sleep in mosque provided he maintains the etiquettes of the mosque and no one else is allowed to sleep or eat there. Hence, common Muslims are not allowed to sleep in the mosque. Such conduct is sacrilege and desecration of the mosque.
As for women praying in mosques, there is no doubt that in the era of Rasulullah (Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam) women were permitted to come to the masjid to perform their salah. This was due to the fact that Rasulullah (Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam) was alive and would daily teach new injunctions of Shari’a. The situation changed after the demise of Rasulullah (Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam). As ‘Aisha (Radhiyallahu Anha) states (narrated by Amrah bint Abdur Rahman), “if Rasulullah (Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam) were to see the condition of the women (of today), he would have verily prevented them from coming to the masjid how The Israelites women were preventing from coming to their place of worship". More than 1400 years have passed by and the the ulama of my school of thought are firm in the belief that these times do not call for women to pray inside the mosque. Their fatwa is based on the conduct of the Sahabah, the tabiyeen (the generation that followed the companions) or taba-tabiyeen (the next generation) after the time of Rasulullah (Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam).
I understand that you may not want to want to follow my school of thought nor agree with it, but please be respectful in your comments. Branding a mosque as unislamic (without any basis) is in...
Read moreThe mosque offers a peaceful and welcoming place for prayer and reflection. The main prayer hall is well-kept, and it’s always a blessing to be in such a spiritual space.
However, I would kindly suggest that more attention be given to the cleanliness of the bathrooms. During my recent visit, I noticed signs of neglect, including flies and roaches. It seems the area hasn’t been maintained properly for some time. Clean and hygienic restrooms are essential for the dignity and comfort of everyone using the facility.
I also gently encourage members of the older Pakistani community especially our respected elders to treat the mosque facilities with care, just as they would their own home. Taking collective responsibility helps us all preserve the sanctity of this shared space.
This feedback is shared with the hope of seeing continued improvement and respect for the house of...
Read moreThis masjid is extremely popular and has hundreds of people going here everyday. The donations they recieve are immense..... But no one is questioning why it is taking them literally YEARS (I don't even remember how many years it has been now) to finish up simple remodeling.... I've been to many masjids and they also undergo renovations/constructions but they do so in a timely manner. Definitely within a year at least. Unfortunately, I feel as though there are a lot of corrupt people running...
