Well, where do I start 🤔 I usually have my car serviced in NJ or PA. But I was on the island and anticipated the price for a synthetic oil charge might be a bit higher. I’ve gone to firestone before and distinctly remember the price of my oil change with filter being $74. I called ahead for a quote and the and the guy on the phone quoted the oil change with filter $91. I knew this price was really up there and not consistent with my last visit to firestone. Despite the fact that I chose firestone because I thought there would be more of a consistency in Thier pricing of service. Than say a smaller private garage. But I was on the island anyhow and I’am a tri-state commuter and wanted to just have it done before I headed off the island again. When I got to the store not wanting to come right out with why am I being overcharged. I politely asked the guy at the service counter if there were there any discounts for state employees or healthcare workers which he said there were none. I accepted this. I then mentioned I had a front headlight out and what would the cost be for the head light and the oil change be? At this point another worker came over to help the initial worker placing the order in the system. At this point I was just asked to sign for service. I told them to hold up and tell me what they were charging me for before I sign anything. They told me they were charging me $187 in total, the oil change and filter $91, $12 for the light bulb and the rest for service. With that I told them to just forget it and that my brother would do the headlight for me. But one worker said he would apply a $15 discount to the $187 though I still declined but than he said he’d still apply the $15 discount to my oil change, ironically bringing the price down to the $74...I’m accustomed to paying at other firestones for the same service! Anyhow, I suppose they were expecting me to just blindly sign for the service and the tech had already removed my lightbulb from the car. I drove home Without it. When my car was finished the tech drove it out into the lot completed. I stared at it for a few minutes just standing there, I stared back at the guys at the desk just chatting. I politely asked if my keys were still in the car because I couldn’t see any other reason for them having me stand there. I mentioned my concern of my car was left running in the parking lot and one worker said it was fine it’s not like someone would take my car anyway. Only then did they decide to settle up with me. Before exiting the lobby I looked at my car through the window and it looked as if there was no mileage sticker on my windshield. I mentioned it to the men at the counter and they ensured it must have been there and to go check for myself, I guess to have me disprove them. Not only was there no mileage sticker on my windshield but my driver side window was left open in a parking lot off a city block with my unlocked doors and all my possessions in plain sight. Yeah, so first offense was shady inconsistent pricing, even with state tax differences still too expensive. Second offense was them trying to pigeonhole me into paying for a service price I didn’t agree to and starting the procedure of removing my head light before asking me leaving me without a present headlight for legal driving. The last offenses was no mileage sticker on windshield, demanding I walk across the parking lot to prove it wasn’t there, and finding my car window left open all while, I stand in a store lobby as the only customer present with minutes of waiting for staff to decide I’m worthy enough of having my keys back! I figured at a firestone car center there would at least be a certain standard of customer service. I would say the Staten Island location of firestone poorly reflects the company. Though, I wouldn’t hesitate to use a firestone possibly outside of Staten Island. I have had decent experiences otherwise. This one was a really disappointing experience at this location on...
Read moreDishonest and money hungry. I was told over the phone after bringing my car in for an oil change that their "courtesy check" revealed brake and tire damage that was in need of immediate repair, totaling over $600. When I explained I didn't have enough for the repairs at the moment I was told I could not drive my car home, I would have to tow it the three blocks to my house. It was not until my husband saw my distress and took the call from me and asked what legal right they had to keep our vehicle that the tone of the manager Josh changed from "you can't drive it off our lot" to "you shouldn't drive it off our lot". Yes, my car can use more than an oil change, but their courtesy check seemed to only notice the expensive hidden issues, not the cheaper obvious ones like my wipers being ripped. I am not ignorant to the condition of my vehicle, merely operating within a very tight budget. I did not consent to my tires being removed for any reason but one was off when my husband and I returned to collect the car. Thankfully after signing a waver I was able to bring the car home, though after seeing the tire removed I'm now paranoid something was tampered with or adjusted intentionally to bring me back to the shop. My one saving grace is that they have everything on camera so if anything was tampered with we'll have evidence of it. I will not be bringing my vehicle here for future repairs as I do not appreciate the way I was treated and then told it was my confusion when I brought attention to the verbage of the phone conversation. I completely understand any potential hesitancy to release the car prior to repairs both from a human stand point and a company stand point, but to be told I cannot take my vehicle unless it is towed is a gross misuse of power. Much to my chagrin the phone calls are not monitored the way the shop is (or so I was told) so I have no evidence to dispute the manner in which I was addressed in the...
Read moreI came to service my vehicle at this location and the wait time was 4 plus hours when I made an appointment the day before because I live at a distance and I’m not able to drop off my car to be serviced. I was 8 months pregnant and it was obviously too long of a wait to be sitting there waiting. once I left I had to come back because they called me shortly after saying they forgot to put a filter it needed. I also replaced two tires, and they didn’t properly secure the lug nuts on 3 tires because they also aligned the tires. After a few days one of my tires started making noises while driving so I took it back and after checking the car and removing the tires they said it was possibly something that they couldn’t repair at this location and it had to be taken to the dealership. After some time the noises on my car got worse so I stopped at a local mechanic and after inspecting my vehicle they said 3 tires were missing atleast 2 lug nuts and showed me how loose my tires were as a result of that, meaning after my car got serviced or inspected two times by Firestone they started falling out slowly but surely. I was shocked and called the Firestone location just to alert them and make sure this doesn’t occur with anybody else because it could have ended very bad especially me being 9 months pregnant at that point. I spoke to the manager and he was very rude and not receptive. His response was basically that in case of something tragic occurring that Firestone had insurance for that and that what happened was human error. That’s so unprofessional and I wasn’t calling for anything other than to be heard because I’ve never experienced this with Firestone even in Florida the times my car got serviced. I hope that they are more careful going forward while working on cars and provide better customer service when they...
